Performing a taunting dance facing the crowd is fun, but doing it on the road is not cool.

Considering the way they new rules read it is wise to avoid doing ANYTHING to get on the refs' bad side before the game starts. I personally hate all the celebration penalties. Directly taunting opposing players, etc, should be a penalty. But simply getting excited or celebrating a great play or a TD should not be a penalty. These are kids and they get excited. The new rule that makes celebration a dead ball spot foul is overreaching. Nearly everything could be construed to be taunting.

    Carry on.

I know the Haka is popular in Polynesian High School football... that's great. If the Poly players at the U or the Y whant to do it, .... great.

If Austin Collie of Jordan WYnn want to do it - uhhh No.
I agree and if Polys want the priesthood no way, but if the white kids do let them have it. The Polys have no clue of the power and besides they bear the mark of Cain.

Austin Collie wouldn't do it, according to the DesNews article.

The Haka reaches about a 1 on the <meh> meter. My 12 year old sons team has 3 poly's on it, and they have done a short version before each game.

He is a blonde poly so they adopted him into the circle of trust. I objected until he set me straight about it.

Have you explained to him the sacredness of the ritual?

Those guys all live in NZ. They are well indoctrinated.

Besides, the All Blacks have performed the Ka Mate for well over 100 years, so it is rugby tradition as well as a sacred Maori ritual.

My favorite story about that was when NZ refused to perform it on the field prior to the game against Wales a few years back, and instead did it in their changing room. I can't blame them one bit for refusing to perform the Haka after "God Defend New Zealand" (a symbol of English domination of NZ).

for the same reason I (white guy) wouldn't perform a Native American Indian Dance.

It's not cool. I wouldn't understand it significance and wouldn't want to offend Native Americans.

I see. I'm having a hard time keeping up on all the rules. So in the case of the son of a maori chieftain (but he looks white), how do you rule?
