At this point I'm just speculating.

I know what a fan you are of speculation and hate due process. I read your stance in the other thread.

PAC-12 rivalry games in November may become scarce:

Pac-12 football fans have become accustomed in recent years to rivalry games not being the final game of the regular season. But starting in 2012, at least one ancient rivalry will be moved up in the schedule — way up. Nothing is final,… Continue Reading →

          * The Thanksgiving Saturday games involving Stanford (odd years) and USC (even years) against Notre Dame.
this can be resolved by playing the Utah v Byu game every year and having Cal/or UCLA play Colorado or in years where Colo doesnt play Cal have them both get OOC games. I am sure Colo St and San Jose St would play those teams that week.

As long as they keep giving exceptions to SC, no problem for me.

            I enjoyed this qoute

Our preference is to keep them as (late) as we can. But it’s very likely that at least one will have to move up.”
Translation: sorry, Zoo/Devils, Dawgs/Wazzou, You don't really matter much. In fact, I'm surprised they don't just move the Utah Colorado game now since nobody considers it a rivalry anyway. Neither fan base would be up in arms about it. Why move The Big Game when Utah and Colorado haven't played each other regularly for decades?

Frankly, if I was a "PAC10" fan, this would be one more reason to be pissed about the "PAC12".

Of course, one way to make the scheduling easier would be to go to an 8 team conference schedule instead of the inane 9 game schedule.

                That will never happen because:
                A. the conference gains an assured extra tv game (away OOC are under the contract of the home team)

                B. One less game the schools have to pay the visitor to play in.

True, but lots of new $$$ tends to ease the pain of going to a PAC12.

I thought that I heard recently that the SEC is going to a 9 game conference schedule? If so then it seems like the trend is moving to more conference games.

I'm not understanding the REAL reason behind rivalry games not on Thanksgiving weekend every year besides the Thursday Night games on ESPN rule in that article. It just seems like they're blabbing about "perplexities in the scheduling" like it's some big issue even though it wasn't this year or next? What perplexities?

There have been 6 champions named in the PAC12 so far this year.

CC men and women - Colorado
                            Football - Oregon
Soccer - men and women - Ucla and Stanford, respectively
                            Volleyball - USC

0 for 6. Better luck with the winter sports, Utes, as i'm not sure they give out participation awards.
