Their projections are right in line with mine.
edit:
I actually bothered to read the article you posted:
Again, this projection Michael Lewis in Sale Lake City is a projection from 2010, it doesn't really tell us what BYU made being indy in 2011. And furthermore, it doesn't tell us if BYU takes a pay cut by going to the BigEast. I have yet to see you even attempt to defend that assertion (which you posted on more than one board).Originally posted by Old SportsBusinessDaily article:
In Sale Lake City, Michael Lewis writes under the header, "New TV Deal Gives Cougars National Exposure They Crave." Financial terms were not disclosed, but sources indicated that BYU "could reap between $800,000 and $1.2 million per home game -- considerably more"Last edited by San Juan Sun; 05-25-2012, 07:04 AM."Sure, I fought. Did the ESPN contract change between the fall of 2010 and the 2011 football season? I must have missed that.Originally posted by San Juan Sun View PostFor you:

If you "have yet to see me even attempt to defend that assertion" that BYU would be taking a pay cut to go to the BE, you're either being intentionally obtuse or have reading comprehension problems. The FB only BE projections under a new contract are $6M per year.
We had 6 home games on ESPN. Average of $1 M per game. My opinion that the Utah game would have been higher, but we'll stick with $1M. The $1M figure comes from the analysis of what ESPN pays for other games and is the same number Michael Lewis came up with in his article.
ESPN, as our new buddy-buddy partner, put together two games for us in 2011. They re-worked their deal between Boise and Ole Miss and allowed us to step into Boise's spot, for which we got a $1M payout.but sources indicated that BYU "could reap between $800,000 and $1.2 million per home game
They also arranged the TCU game at cowboy's stadium. The TCU game was arranged about the same time as the WV game in Redskin's stadium. The payout for the WV game was announced and was $2.25M per team. I used $2M for this game. Both teams were projected to be top 25 teams, and a $4M payout is exactly in line with what the networks are paying for a Tier 1 game.
Add in the armed forces bowl money which we don't have to split with a conference of $1.2 M and you come to a total of $10.2M. Where I come from $10.2M > $6M.
I'm repeating all of this (except for the bowl money). As I said above, you're either being intentionally obtuse or you have reading comprehension issues.

Just a brainstorm, but what if the big east and acc got together, got rid of the football deadwood, and grabbed the real draw in the slc market and a few other west division members? They could have all four time zones and a pretty good tv contract. At least the Big Ten went after a big-time addition in Nebraska; the Pac-10 wanted a game so badly, it added Utah

Good background article on the possible future home of a BYU-led BigEast: the NBC and CBS sports networks.
Interesting fact: NBCSN is in 79 million homes, BYUtv is in 60 million. How's that for exposure?"Sure, I fought. I had to fight all my life just to survive. They were all against me. Tried every dirty trick to cut me down, but I beat the bastards and left them in the ditch."

I have always contended with BYU it is about the money like everyone else. I never had any information to support my contention though, thanks.Originally posted by BYUMizzou View PostDid the ESPN contract change between the fall of 2010 and the 2011 football season? I must have missed that.

Nice revisionist history.Originally posted by Maximus View PostESPN was so nice to set up not one but 2 1 and dones last year.
BYU had a hole in its schedule for opening week 2011. The alternative was playing a FCS team. Instead, ESPN talked Boise and Ole Miss into postponing their game that was scheduled for that week to 2014 and moved BYU into Boise's slot, and, in the process, got BYU a $1 Million paycheck for the game.
As for the TCU one and done, we were scheduled to play at Louisiana Tech the week of the TCU game. We were able to drop the LA Tech away game and replace it with the TCU game in Jerryworld and add a nice fat paycheck to boot.
Again, nice revisionist history.
