Me and Chachi would tell Flyn and my youngest sister that they weren't Hawaiian because they weren't born there, despite both being far darker than us. They believed it for a long time.Originally posted by MarkGrace View PostNo, all of them were raised by her, so they're not white."Nobody listens to Turtle."-Turtlesigpic

My cousins used to tell us that when we were little. Their dad was my mom's brother, they had a haole mom, we had a haole dad -- the exact same mix of everything. Yet they lived there so they thought that gave them some sort of additional ethnicity boost or something.Originally posted by Surfah View PostMe and Chachi would tell Flyn and my youngest sister that they weren't Hawaiian because they weren't born there, despite both being far darker than us. It sounds like the "quotes" may have been taken from statements he made or wrote on FB quite some time ago.Originally posted by MarkGrace View PostWhat do people think of OC's comments? I was surprised to see him quoted in this thing given that he's supposedly doing his best to get back on the team.

Interesting. That's extremely questionable of Deadspin, if true -- though the entire thing seems extremely questionable to begin with.Originally posted by kccougar View PostIt sounds like the "quotes" may have been taken from statements he made or wrote on FB quite some time ago.

This is great. The author Darron Smith was just on the radio. Dude has a serious axe to grind with BYU.
First of all Tico Pringle said that his comments were taken out of context and some of them were flat wrong. He also said he left voluntarily.
Oneill Chambers is saying he has not spoken with anyone recently.
Now for the author (and you will notice a pattern here) he said its not fair because the LDS kids have a bishop and other leaders to go too in case of a problem where the non-lds kids don't. Gordon Monson said so it sounds like its more of a non-lds vs lds thing. Not a race thing. Smith says:
"Its is always about race even when its not about race". He then goes on to say BYU did not hire a team chaplain until 2006 (notice how many incidents have occurred since then). Now the non-LDS players have someone to talk to.
It is much ado about nothing this guy is trying to use the history of the church and tie it to the current honor code. Sorry but there is no correlation and to think that is a major stretch.*Banned*

Because they are not white. They have brown skin. Should I tell them they are something they are not? They are not dumb my daughter asked me at 3 years old why her skin was a different color than mine. No I am not color blind, I see people of all different colors and races. Do I treat them any differently than a white person? No. But I can't change the fact that everyone has a different skin color.Originally posted by Viking View PostWhy do you have to characterize them as not white? Aren't you color blind?
Sheesh. Your wife should dump your racist ass.

Here is a white guy that basically didn't get back in because of the honor code. His acts were worse than group sex and ended up with the same result. I am just trying to even out the very scientific numbers compiled by Darron.
PROVO -- A former Brigham Young University baseball player pleaded guilty Wednesday to having sex with an underage girl and supplying alcohol to minors.
Samuel Lewis Fernley, 22, entered the pleas as part of an arrangement. Prosecutors and Fernley's attorney will make a joint recommendation at sentencing that Fernley be placed on probation, not sent to jail. Fernley originally was charged with first-degree rape and four misdemeanor counts of supplying alcohol to minors.
Fourth District Judge Anthony Schofield is scheduled to sentence Fernley on March 3.
Fernley pitched for BYU in 2002, when he finished second on the team with 20 appearances. He was 1-2 with a save and a 5.58 ERA, third-best among Cougar pitchers.
His academic record wasn't so bright -- so he left school. He was expected to re-enroll at BYU as a key member of the Cougar pitching staff this season until coaches and school officials became aware of the charges, which weren't filed until Oct. 8.
Provo detective DeVon Jensen said Fernley provided beer to a 15- year-old Pleasant Grove girl and three teenage boys in his condominium at 1383 S. 1470 East on July 18. The girl called police the night of the incident and reported she had been raped.
Fernley previously insisted through his attorney, Matt Jube, that the sex was consensual.
Fernley could face up to five years in prison and two years in jail on the charges, but it is likely Schofield will accept the plea bargain and suspend those sentences. The charge of unlawful sex with a minor is a third-degree felony. The alcohol-related charges are Class A misdemeanors.

Actually, 80% of players dismissed are white. Now, prove me wrong.Originally posted by UtahDan View PostLots of people are asserting that it is an attack piece, which I think it one fair way to look at it. But so far no one is taking on the factual assertion that 80% of the players dismissed since 1993 have been black. I have no idea whether that is true, does anyone else? If it is true, I'm not sure what difference it makes how that fact gets presented. It speaks for itself at least on some level.I'm like LeBron James.
