I heard it thrown around on the radio on Monday as well.

I think DDD is being truthfully gracious. Btw - I am having a hunkering for some more Tito's Tacos. LA - is it too early to start planning for the Rose Bowl next year?

I need to take you to Henry's Tacos in Burbank. DDD will probably meet us there if we give him advance notice. And I am just giving him a hard time.

I'll take you up on that offer and hope our virtual USC tour guide can come too. I know you're teasing him. Some of the others aren't acting like gracious UTES.

To understand DDD is to love him. It just took me about 3 years.

The one thing that is appealing to me as a fan viewing on TV about the Sun Bowl is that it is on a unique channel (CBS) at a unique time 2:00 PM. So, from an exposure standpoint, to me, it seems like one of the best of the "lesser bowls." I believe it's the only bowl game CBS has...I could be wrong on that, but if it isn't it's one of only a few. In any event, it'll be fun to tune in, regardless of where they go, but if its the Sun, I like that its on CBS.

Well, because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.

I'm pretty sure they also have the Gator Bowl.

But you're right, New Year's Eve with an OTA broadcast is nice.

DDDude's a one-trick pony: sarcasm. But at least he can take it as well as dish it out. He seemed to have respect for someone who can play his game.

But indirectly taking swipes at people who are in the same thread with you, well, that's way too passive-aggressive for my taste.

This has been a discussion in my circle of Ute friends as well. Nobody seems to be able to find out.

At issue is money from existing contracts vs new contracts. We don't get any of the TV revenue because we weren't in the fold at the time they were made, and the schools don't want their budgets blown by having to split it more ways.

The championship game is new revenue, so we get a split of that.

I don't know how bowls figure in the picture. I would assume that it goes one of 2 ways:
                      • We pay our expenses off the top, and throw the rest in to the conference pot that is divided up after all is said and done. I believe that this is the norm.
                      • We keep our bowl revenue, and don't get any of the split revenue from the conference.

Seeing that bowls are kind of a year to year thing, I am guessing that we will be going with the split revenue model. But that's a wild, hair-brained, uneducated guess on my part. Either way, it would seem that even if we go with the split revenue model (and my back of the napkin math with two teams most likely playing in BCS bowl games), we're probably looking at roughly a $3M-$4M in bowl revenue, which is roughly the same as if we kept it.

The past Sunday Hansen and his family met with Utah assistant coaches Norm Chow and Jay Hill, and everyone agreed that it was in the best interests of all parties for Hansen to compete for the starting job next fall instead of going on his LDS mission first.

Leaves open that he could leave after his freshman year, I guess.

Yeah, that doesn't say he's forgoing a mission at all.

I agree, but if he actually sees meaningful playing time, no way he leaves.
