Nice to see that Jake is being given respect as the clear-cut starter:
Gotta love Heaps really emerging as a leader. I'm pumped for Football season. Hopefully Heaps can have a Jimmeresque rise from a tumultuous Freshman campaign to becoming a dominant player as a Soph/Junior/Senior.Mendenhall said "what we intend to do is... Jake is the starter going into spring. Riley (Nelson) or others will have to take the job from him through how they perform in spring-and-slash-fall camp."
Asked to compare how he feels now to how he felt as a freshman last spring, Heaps said "I really don't think you can compare it."
"First coming in, I didn't know what to expect. I was in the middle of a quarterback battle, splitting reps. Now, this is my football team, and it's just a completely different story. It's exciting, it's fun for me to go out there and get more reps and be around the guys and just get this next year started."

Do you have a Twitter account, and are you logged in when you check? If you aren't logged in to twitter you frequently (always?) do not get the latest updates.Originally posted by MarkGrace View PostThanks. I apparently suck at twitter, because whenever I click on these guys accounts it gives me old stuff.

If this is the case, then our wr's are going to be good. However, I can't see it happening.my early prediction for 2011's leading WR: Jacobson...he still has the goods and will benefit most from the new offense being put in placeSo Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

What was really odd to me last year was how good Heaps and Jacobsen looked together in practice before the season started. Jacobsen obviously had some issues last year getting off the line and getting open and if he's going to be a big player he's got to correct those problems. But I think he was affected as much as any other player by the QB and scheme rotations to start the season. Then I think his confidence and drive took a hit and he never pulled out of it.Originally posted by MarkGrace View PostIf this is the case, then our wr's are going to be good. I don't know if he can recover from where he was last year, but if he does then the opposing safeties are going to have a hard time shading too much help over to Apo and Hoffman.

Excited about Kav, too.Uona Kaveinga as a middle linebacker is like a watchman, a controller, a vocal leader and QB for the defense. Sees things, calls it out.So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

Apparently Doman is having fun.
Also, he likes Jake Heaps."It was really fun," Doman said. "I was having a hard time not to have a smile on my face the whole time. It was fun to call plays and it was fun to be able to get these guys out here. I'm having a ton of fun and I think our guys want to be great, and that makes it even more fun for me."
http://byu.scout.com/2/1056042.html"He's going to be a really good player," said a smiling Doman about Heaps. "This year we finally got some snaps on the first day of spring ball. Last year we had nine quarterback-to-center exchange problems. [On Monday] we actually got some exchanges to him and we were able to throw some balls and get some first downs. We are much further ahead this year than last year, and working with him has been an absolute pleasure and I'm glad he's here."So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

Heroin, MG. Pure black tar heroin, though I will say that the withdrawals are much much worse for football.
