            Even if Utah had won out there is no way they played in the Rose Bowl this year.

              SU sounds a lot like my mother when I'd come home dejected after having performed badly in some academic or athletic endeavor. In her efforts to console, she was usually wrong, even demented, but I appreciated the support.

              P.S. There never was an argument, as UD's conjecture, based on the assumptions stated, was reasonable, as was mine that Catherine Zeta-Jones probably would have fallen for me if I had been become younger and much more handsome, and had inherited a billion dollars.

                They'd be playing in the Rose Bowl the same as TCU is playing in the Rose Bowl.

                        BYU will win the National Championship next season if:

                        1. BYU goes undefeated
                        2. And it is ranked high enough to play in the Championship game
                        3. It wins the Championship game.

                          I would say there is little question BYU would be. The Rose bowl was the bowl that this year had to take the non-AQ team. It rotates. That was interesting in light of Utah going to the Pac 12 and being ranked well enough at the time that if they won out the Rose Bowl seemed very likely. I would have to look at the schedules of those other two to see.

                          My primary purpose of the post was to say "hey look, the Rose Bowl is the non-AQ bowl this year and Utah could be there if is does A, B and C." I'm glad that tickles your funny bone but I can't fathom why.

                              If BYU is undefeated seven weeks into the season next year and ranked ninth, I'm sure that you will refrain from any speculation about what running the table would mean. Right?
