Do you poop out of your mouth? Just wondering, since you do so much talking out of your ass.

Just for clarification, what is your position on lying, good or bad?

      • If BYU continues to employ a two QB system, then you're looking at a wasted season for Jake Heaps. See: Smith, Alex and McBride, Ron. Now, obviously it's not that bad as Heaps is getting more than 4 plays, but if he is going to be pulled after every INT in favor of Nelson, then, as CJ said, his confidence goes bye bye and you've wasted a year of his eligibility.

I've mentioned this offline to HL before, but I wouldn't be surprised if Heaps is named the full time starter after the non-conference is over, or at least after FSU (and now maybe Nevada) so that they can justify benching Nelson and get Heaps experience knowing that they're facing CSU, UNLV, UNM etc...

Well, because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.

I watched a little of that game. Nevada had 415 of those yards in the first half and the score then was 34-3. Recall that the Rams lost to Colorado 20-3 last week. Nevada has Cal at home this next week. I suspect the wolf pack will put up a better fight than Colorado did.

So you are alleging that Bronco is throwing Anae and Doman under the bus for his decision?

If what you seem to be suggesting is true, that's going to make for a pretty divided coaching staff to go along with the divide amongst the players.

I think we are ready to see a lot of Riley this year. The good news is that we still play CSU, UNLV, New Mexico, SDSU and USU. Any QB can beat them. So we will go to the Vegas Bowl.
lol USU might beat us too TBH

Give him the Heisman right now.
This is the Scouts Inc. evaluation of Robinson in 2009:
Robinson and ATH Brandon McGee could be twins in this class as both are about 5'11, very athletic, quick and actually very accomplished passers, but it will take the right offense and coaching staff to commit to them as QB's as opposed to making the move to corner or wide receiver. Robinson is just a flat out playmaker in every sense of the word and he will surprise you with his production in the passing game. If he were taller, there is no doubt he would be a serious QB prospect, but his overall skills will likely land him somewhere else. Has a quick, live arm and is very effective in the short and intermediate areas of the field. Can throw the ball vertically with touch and lay the ball in, but does not have the powerful arm to drive the ball 50 yards on a consistent basis. He is scary when the initial play breaks down--has supreme quickness, burst and acceleration and has a knack for pulling a rabbit out of his hat when he gets in trouble. Throws extremely well on the move, especially to his right. Is a highly competitive player that is always trying to make things happen and usually comes up with the big play. His speed, quickness and change-of-direction skills make him dangerous when on the perimeter. Has great feet and smooth hips. However, at times Robinson will try and make too much happen and force things a little. His height limits his vision and he will leave the pocket and may scramble too much at times because he knows he has a chance to make something happen if out of the pocket. When not in the shotgun, he struggles to see the whole field and work through progressions. Must become more patient. Overall, Robinson could play QB in the right system, but his overall versatility and competitiveness is why he's a prospect and a really good one.
He certainly found the right system and I agree with the Heisman sentiment.

                    • From today's paper:

                      http://www.deseretnews.com/article/7...arterback.html

After the freshman Heaps threw his interception just before half, offensive coordinator Robert Anae abandoned him in a game BYU needed to stretch the field as only Heaps can do. Granted, Nelson had several key passes dropped (Mitch Matthews and O'Neill Chambers) when the Cougars were fighting the second half, but so did Heaps on a long bomb to Luke Ashworth.
                      http://www.deseretnews.com/article/7...gars.html?pg=2

Heaps said offensive coordinator Robert Anae told the quarterbacks at halftime that Nelson would play exclusively in the second half. He added that he respected that decision and he was not surprised by it.
                      On the other hand....

                      http://www.sltrib.com/sltrib/cougars...lcons.html.csp

The coach scrapped his rotating quarterbacks system that worked in last week’s 23-17 win over Washington, going exclusively with junior Riley Nelson in the second half after Jake Heaps threw an interception in the second quarter — BYU’s third turnover in the first half.

The strategy seemed ill-timed considering BYU trailed and Heaps is considered a much better passer than Nelson.

“It just seemed at that time that Riley had a little bit more, maybe confidence,” Mendenhall said. “[He] was seeing the field just a hair better. But there’s a lot to be reviewed.”
Last, but not least: Gordon Monson.

                      http://www.sltrib.com/sltrib/cougars...ugars.html.csp

And the craziest thing about that crazy 88 was they shelved their best passer en route. At halftime, Bronco Mendenhall’s thinking appeared to run along these lines: “We’re down seven, we’re throwing the ball as though it were a case of nitroglycerin, our defense can’t stop these guys, here’s an idea: Let’s go with the kid with the weaker, less-accurate arm.”

Afterward, Mendenhall explained his decision this way: “It just seemed like Riley [Nelson] had a bit more confidence.”

A minute later, Jake Heaps was asked about the level of his confidence, and he said it was … “Higher than ever.”

So because Bronco thought that Riley was more confident than Jake but Jake says he has more confidence than ever, somebody is full of it? Does that make any sense at all? Does Gordon think that Bronco and Jake share the same brain? Monson is an idiot.

I wish we would just bite the bullet and play Jake primarily and bring in Riley for 3rd and short or goal-line situations. That seems like the logical thing to do. Why not prepare Jake to be the QB of the future if at least 4 losses this season is a given anyway?

                          • Bronco contradicts himself in the media. ON the one hand he says the decision was made by Anae and Doman. Then, here, it seems as if he is saying that he, at the very least, was complicit in the decision to play Nelson.

The first comment where he says the decision was made by Anae and Doman and that they'd have to discuss what went into the decision seemed to throw Anae and Doman under the bus. Especially if it's true that Bronco helped make that decision.

I'm still hopeful that this was about Anae giving Riley enough rope to hang himself with and proving to Bronco that he's just not the guy.

But would a coach willingly lose a conference game just to win that debate? I'd be angry if I were a BYU fan and thought that was going on.
