This one's all on the coaches. Our D was not prepared whatsoever. Diluigi has 7 carries for 100 yards and yet Heaps was made to throw it long every time and Nelson was the main rusher when he was in. Nelson isn't nearly as terrible a thrower as most on here seemingly believe, but he does seem to suck at the thinking part of the game, as he tucks it at the first chance almost every time. Heaps didn't look good, but the play calling for him was ridiculous and there was no opportunity for him to get in rhythm.
Mostly, Bronco has outed himself as a pussy. He can't make a decision at QB, so he rotates them without regard to situation (already a bad idea), but then pulls his future star at the first sign of adversity. If you don't care about 3 and 15 vs. 3 and 1 with regard to QBs, you'd better not care about one bad half from your true freshman. Inexcusable.Comment

Air Force does not respect Riley's arm at all. They know that he will be running essentially a Wildcat offense and he is not quite dynamic enough to really make them pay.Comment

I just think
that BYU is very one dimensional with Riley Nelson in the game. Clearly the coaching staff does not yet think Heaps is ready. In the long run I think they are right. It did not help John Beck to be thrown into the fire so early. While it is frustrating as fans want the coaching staff to do something, anything to change the situation, I am convinced the Mendenhall's stubbornly sticking to what he knows will work best right now will best serve BYU over the long haul.
I do hope Heaps gets ready in a hurry.
Mostly I am disapointed in BYU's defense today. I think it is unreasonable to expect BYU's offense to be consistently effective this year, but I think the defense should show much better than this.Do Your Damnedest In An Ostentatious Manner All The Time!
