I'm probably not going to attend any more home games unless Heaps is named starter before the game. I'm sure Nelson is a good kid and hard competitor, but he's just not good enough. Let's take our lumps and let Heaps start, even if we lose a few more games. Bring Riley in for 7 or 8 plays a game or have him play tailback. I'll still watch the games, but I don't want to invest the extra time to go to the stadium to watch us run qb draws all day.

The only thing that makes me feel any better is that AFA gets a win on September 11th.

Dude, no sense agruing. It's been very apparent that Bronco picked the starter despite the fact that Anae and Doman wanted Heaps. Doman even said on the radio that Bronco made the decision.

It will be interesting to see if and when that decision comes. I doubt he throws Heaps to the dogs next week, but I am convinced it will come before TCU.

I really don't know how they are going to treat this. This coaching staff is not prone to emotional over-reactions.

Playing Nelson exclusively was an irrational, emotional overreaction to being down and to Heaps throwing a single INT.

Too many fans griping. It is going to get back to Bronco. I am laying odds Bronco will have something to say to the fans about them knowing nothing sometime this week.

Look, the guy has won 10 games a year. He knows what he is doing.

I think Mendenhall's issue in this case is not having a qb ready to take the reins. Well that not having the clout, despite his pandering to the mullahs, to keep Unga in school this year. I think if he is going to waste it, so to speak, he isn't going to do that with Heaps. He saw how it screwed up Beck's head and he isn't going to follow that road. I think that when they really believe Heaps is ready, they will go with him. IMO that is likely to happen by the next conference game. I think Mendenhall really wants it clear that Heaps is the guy. As much as today sucks, it kind of spells that out for all. What really hurts, IMO, is that BYU's defense should have been better today.

I think this is true, but Heaps will be starting after FSU. Before the season started, I thought it was going to happen after TCU given the fact there are four straight gimmes before the Utah game after that TCU game. The two losses at FSU and TCU would be pinned on Nelson and Heaps would come in under low expectations for the season.

I think that Nelson will be thrown to the wolves at FSU instead of Heaps for the reasons you stated.

You can dig up posts if you want, but everyone close to the situation has said the same thing: Anae and Doman decided on Heaps, Bronco overruled them and it was his decision to play 2QBs. At least one of them (Anae) was apparently very ticked by it.

I don't think so. I think it was a calculated decision based upon what happened to Beck's confidence. I think Heaps is going to be the guy eventually but if there is going to be one whom the fans are going to pile on, it is going to be Riley Nelson. I am not convinced if Heaps played every series today the results would be much different and it would be Heaps everyone would be piling on.
