I'm pretty sure it is. They are bigger in Indy than Purdue and IU.

Chicago is a massive metropolitan area in a region that loves college football. Historically, Illinois and Northwestern have been lacking so I imagine that Notre Dame has filled the void.Originally posted by Indy Coug View PostI'm pretty sure it is. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

It's actually brilliant from ticket sales perspective. ND tickets go for 3x face value, so scalpers make all the profit. If Notre Dame was selling tickets to a "neutral" site game in Chicago, between additional seats and additional price, they'd rake in a ton of dough.Originally posted by Indy Coug View PostNBC would still get their allotment of Notre Dame home games and Notre Dame would get higher gate receipts from playing in an NFL stadium in Chicago. Neutral site games almost always charge higher ticket prices.
P.S. That doesn't mean I believe the rumor, I'm just positing why it might work from a financial standpoint.

You've never seen Rudy?Originally posted by Color Me Badd Fan View PostBecause Chicago is 73 miles away from South Bend. NBC can't tell Notre Dame not to schedule essentially a three and three from a TV perspective.
EDIT: Soldier Field is 95 miles away from South Bend. Still, that's pretty close. I'm not from Chicago and in fact have never been there, but I wonder with that kind of proximity if Notre Dame is bigger than Northwestern and Illinois in that area.

I think he's just assuming here. Though I also don't think it is in either AD's makeup to make life difficult for the other, so I suspect Hill will do his best to accomodate and have Utah play on the road...but if it doesn't work out, I think Holmoe will also be flexible if the cougs have to play two years in a row in slc.Originally posted by oxcoug View Posthttp://www.sltrib.com/sltrib/home/50...e-byu.html.csp

Well, because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.

Interesting, thanks. I think it's good for both programs to let the rivalry grow uninterrupted and it would be a nice gesture for Utah to play us in Provo in 2011 given the scheduling difficulties we have for that year.Originally posted by BoylenOver View PostIt would coincide with everything I've heard.Ute-ī sunt fīmī differtī

It is clear that BYU will be able to consistently schedule quality opponents. But I'm starting to worry if we will be able to get many of them at home. I'd like to see more of the current PAC-10 teams scheduled. I wonder how many of the MWC teams will decide to keep playing BYU occasionally.
