correct me if I'm wrong, but the Big 10 is going to a 9 game football conference schedule in 2017, and they also will play a PAC-12 School every year by at least 2017.
That doesn't leave a lot of wiggle room for a long time series against BYU, and I can't imagine Nebraska is willing to play very many OOC games away from Lincoln. Not saying Nebraska won't come to BYU at some point, but I cant see more than one game in Provo in the future.Last edited by Scorcho; 02-23-2012, 10:52 AM.

You are correct. Scheduling home and home series with anyone these days is a big problem. Is every B10 school going to play a Pac school every year? I'm unsure on that. I thought they were just going to have one or two inter-conference games a year.Originally posted by Scorcho View Postcorrect me if I'm wrong, but the Big 10 is going to a 9 game football conference schedule in 2017, and they also will play a PAC-12 School every year by at least 2017.

I think this may be a road game I have to attend, if for no other reason than to have an excuse to go to Memorial.Originally posted by Omaha 680 View PostIt's true that Lincoln is not a great college town. I grew up in Omaha and I never really liked Lincoln. The game experience makes up for it though. Memorial Stadium is a must-visit for any college football fan.
When I was a 1L at Iowa, a professor (now the dean at the law school in Wisconsin) conned a bunch of eager-to-please law students into going to an Iowa-Nebraska softball game in Iowa City. The stands were painted red with Nebraska fans. It was an incredible draw for a softball game.Jesus wants me for a sunbeam.

each Big 10 Team will play a school from the PAC-12 every year in football. The agreement also includes a basketball game for each school between conferences, and will include other sports as well.Originally posted by mtnbiker View PostIs every B10 school going to play a Pac school every year? you are not correct. They originally planned to go to 9 games, but then said they wouldn't when the Pac deal was announced.Originally posted by Scorcho View Postcorrect me if I'm wrong, but the Big 10 is going to a 9 game football conference schedule in 2017, and they also will play a PAC-12 School every year by at least 2017.

You Omaha snobs can suck it. Lincoln is a great college town with a terrific game experience (agree with that part of your statement). And Memorial Stadium is a great venue.Originally posted by Omaha 680 View PostIt's true that Lincoln is not a great college town. I grew up in Omaha and I never really liked Lincoln. What makes Lincoln a great college town are the fans. BYU fans will be welcomed and treated pleasantly. What makes Memorial Stadium a great venue is also due to the fans - BYU players will be cheered when they exit the field - win or lose.
Memorial Stadium is on campus and within walking distance to downtown Lincoln. There is plenty to do on a Friday/Saturday. Some of the best activities involve bars so I'm not sure how that will square with the LDS crowd in general. I'm active LDS and always had a blast on game weekends so it's possible.
Now, I wouldn't recommend anyone taking a vacation to Lincoln (or Omaha for that matter). But for game weekend, Lincoln and Memorial Stadium have a lot to offer. And the courtesy of Husker fans is unparalleled in my experience.
For those BYU fans dishing on Lincoln, I can only offer that I've lived in both Lincoln and Provo and laugh at the comments that Lincoln is a ghostown after rush hour...compared to what...Provo???“Not the victory but the action. Not the goal but the game. In the deed the glory.”

I would be surprised if this ends up being a one-and-done deal. Nebraska doesn't schedule that way for name teams like BYU but have scheduled one-and-done deals with Utah (1989, 1992) and Utah St. (1991, 2002-03). Recently, they have scheduled 2:1 with Fresno St., Wyoming, and Southern Miss. I expect a home-away-neutral schedule with perhaps the neutral venue being Kansas City Arrowhead or Denver Mile High.Originally posted by Maximus View Postdo you think byu could easily get a one and done with just about any bcs team? I just think we have plenty of hard road games. We need some home games. I don't think that is unreasonable... To expect some actual series and not one and dones.
Nebraska does have an opening on 9/24/2016. Not sure how that date works for BYU. The Husker OOC for 2016 is Fresno St., Tennessee, and Wyoming all in Lincoln so it would make sense for Nebraska to travel that week. Most years, Nebraska will only travel for one OOC game so they can play 7 home games.“Not the victory but the action. Not the goal but the game. In the deed the glory.”

Great game, I am still just worried when we still have only scheduled 1 BCS team that is an even deal. Unless you count the teams that all of sudden jumped into the Big east, but not counting those, all we have is GT which was announced the week we announced Inependence. Since then, we have had two 1 and dones and no 1-1s.

No offense intended to Lincoln; the people there were great, and I know the game-day experience is nice as well.

What else is there to do in Nebraska?Originally posted by jay santos View PostI stayed in Lincoln one night about five years ago or so. Woke up and the hole place was in red. Everyone. I asked what was going on, they said it was the spring game. They pack the stadium for spring game, and everyone travels from everywhere in the state. Pretty impressive.

Perhaps I'm a little too thin skinned about my hometown. As I've posted earlier, I think there will be a return trip to Provo. And when that happens, I'll be asked by my many Nebraska friends what I recommend they do while in Provo. Fortunately, I've got some time to craft a response. Hope they are in the mood for mountain hikes or similar outdoor stuff. But most of the time when we travel to away Nebraska games we visit bars and tailgate with opposing fans and generally have a great time. Not sure what we'll do while in Provo since its diffierent from the typical game day experience.Originally posted by Clark Addison View PostI don't think I ever claimed that Provo would be a good town for a road trip.
