Nice upgrade. Traded a road game at LaTech for a neutral game against TCU. My guess is the dollars are a lot more too. Nice pick-up.Originally posted by Indy Coug View PostBYU vs TCU 10/28/2011 on ESPN2

Serious question here, Indy. Does this addition affect your meter on BYU's move to independence one way or the other?Originally posted by Indy Coug View PostTCU was in a serious scheduling bind and ESPN/BYU's deal helped bail them out. BYU fans showed well against Oklahoma. I'd estimate that about 20K of 75K of fans were BYU fans in Cowboys stadium. Part of the problem is $$$. I was willing to cough up $100 per ticket + $40 to park to see the Sooners. Not so sure about TCU. But at least there will most likely be tickets available.Originally posted by RedSox View PostPretty brutal road (read: not in Provo) schedule. Coug fans in Texas better come out in droves.
Last year, the TCU-Oregon St. game sold about 47K of tickets and about 40K were TCU fans - which is close to the average attendance at Ammon G. Carter Stadium.
A good crowd would be about 60K with around 20K BYU fans for BYU-TCU at Cowboys stadium. I'd prefer the game to be at AGC because ticket prices would be much lower. IMO, JerryWorld isn't worth the extra $$$ unless it's a championship or bowl game.“Not the victory but the action. Not the goal but the game. In the deed the glory.”

I have no idea. I was just wondering if the aforementioned on byu is right. Also what about the utah byu game. is that going to be on byutv?Originally posted by Blueintheface View PostHow many Ute games will be on ESPN again?"Be a philosopher. Recall that for the TCU-Oregon St. game they started selling the standing room only and nose bleed tickets for $25 about two weeks before the game. Also, think of the money you will save by not driving to Ruston, LA to watch a blow out. Those are just the set-in-stone broadcasts. The rest of the schedule isn't determined yet, but I'm guessing both the Utah and Hawaii games will be on ESPN. You are correct, though, that the aforementioned games (two-ESPN & one 2) constitute the contractual 3 home/neutral site game minimum.Originally posted by Mormon Red Death View PostI have no idea. Money does not mean success. IWins are success. Bigger wins are a better sign of success. Money is certainly neccesary to get there, but there are some challenges with this that should cause us all to wait a few years to evaluate.Originally posted by KillerDog View PostLOL! So far it seems to me (surprisingly because I was against it) that the independence and WCC is working very well. BYU's revenues from TV have dramatically increased. The University has regained control of its content. The first year was the most difficult to schedule and the University has filled that schedule. Going forward, BYU is in a basketball conference with like institutions and able to fill out its football schedule with quality opponents. They have also created some bowl tie-ins. Best of all, they've done the above while dramatically increasing their revenue (some accounts have it by as much as 400% but in no event less than a 200% increase). Sounds like a success to me so far. I admit, I was wrong.
The one thing that causes me to believe I was wrong, I think along with you in believing BYU was making a poor decision, is that I think Rose likes this new scenario.
What will be BYU's home schedule next year in football? That is when I think we can start to see how it is coming together. I will miss the hoops rivalries with UNLV, SDSU and UNM, but Rose is improving the program to the point that regular season big wins might not be the high points in the year.Do Your Damnedest In An Ostentatious Manner All The Time!

That said, I wouldn't be surprised if CGD picked the Utes/Trojans.
