You're out of the deposition now, so what's your excuse for this transparent post?Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

I agree with the first part. Utah is a charity case. But, I don't agree with the last part. BYU should continue to show charity to Utah even if they are ingrates.Originally posted by SeattleUte View PostUtah is a charity case for BYU for old times, your handicap. Personally, I wish we'd drop BYU from all our schedules. No more charity for ingrates.

LOL! So far it seems to me (surprisingly because I was against it) that the independence and WCC is working very well. BYU's revenues from TV have dramatically increased. The University has regained control of its content. The first year was the most difficult to schedule and the University has filled that schedule. Going forward, BYU is in a basketball conference with like institutions and able to fill out its football schedule with quality opponents. They have also created some bowl tie-ins. Best of all, they've done the above while dramatically increasing their revenue (some accounts have it by as much as 400% but in no event less than a 200% increase). Sounds like a success to me so far. I admit, I was wrong.Originally posted by SeattleUte View PostI've been in a deposition, and handn't seen this bit of immaturity.
Why don't you guys just fess up this independence/WCC is failing and go slinking back to the MWC?

My fellow CUFers, is it time for an intervention? Do we contact Dr. Phil? Or do we just do what Frenchmen inevitably did by the end of those old black and white movies: slap some sense into our good friend?
Something is going on here.Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!
For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.
Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

Don't know why but it reminded me of this classic scene. Start watching at about 45 seconds.Originally posted by TripletDaddy View PostInteresting. Yet another game on National TV.
I'm afraid America is going to OD on BYU from all this exposure!

Knock it off. This board has enough problems without a dose of middle-age lechery.

TCU was in a serious scheduling bind and ESPN/BYU's deal helped bail them out. Patterson had little to no leverage.Originally posted by Sizzle View PostI'll NEVER consider playing BYU. Uh, unless, uh, of course, they can get us an extra game on ESPN in Texas Stadium…

So - did ESPN throw this little bit into the article as their way of saying "Look at us. We can even get someone to play a game that they said they would never play."Originally posted by Indy Coug View PostBYU vs TCU 10/28/2011 on ESPN2

TCU coach Gary Patterson once flatly said that he would not consider playing BYU after news that the Cougars were leaving the Mountain West Conference leaked out last August.
"If you're BYU, you better be careful what you wish for," Patterson said in August. Four months later, TCU announced it would leave the Mountain West for the Big East in time for the 2012 season. Thursday, officials announced that the two teams would meet.
I don't take this as ESPN telling the world that they love BYU so much they are going to make sure BYU gets good games (though I can see that being posted somewhere on Cougarboard).
I could see it as ESPN trying to say "we can make the games happen that we want to have happen. We can make a coach change his mind about a game he said he wouldn't even consider playing. We are really the ones who decide who is playing and when."
I also see it as a positive development for BYU that they are going to get some support from ESPN to keep their schedule from turning into BYU versus the WAC.

If there is one thing I dislike, it is home games that are road heavy.Originally posted by Maximus View PostWe should not have taken this game without a return game. If we did, it proves our home schedule will be very road heavy for many years to come.Fitter. Happier. More Productive.
