Know who isn't a downgrade from Kelly? Cade Uluave

I would like that SUU rb to come. He looks better than our backups.

The Utah "insiders" seem convinced he will be a Ute.

I agree with this. Give credit where it is due-they were great last year. I am skeptical they can replicate that defensive capability consistently. Perhaps they can, but I am skeptical. That defense was insanely good.

There are some good LBs in the porta in addition to Leafau and Uluavel. I think BYU only needs 1. I think BYU would be fine with adding Leafau and using Miles Hall, Alfrod, Bryant-Strother and Kaufusi as back ups.

However, other LBs in the portal that BYU ought to consider are:

1.) Uluave- LDS kid from Utah who was All ACC at Cal. MLB. Starter if he came to BYU. Better than Esera right now.
2,) Matai Togoai- LDS kid from Sam Clemente who played at USC last year. Probably not a starter in '26 but could be in the two deep and play special teams. Not sure if he redshirted at USC this past year. Likely starter caliber player as an upperclassmen.
3.) Jake Clifton- LDS kid from Oklahoma who played all 3 LB positions at KSU for 2 years before going on a mission. Probably a good idea to redshirt him and then he would likely be a starter/2 deep player for two years. He was expected to be a starter at KSU 2 years ago until he decided to go on a mission.

That wouldn't be surprising. I expect he prefers reserarch institutions. He would help at BYU but he will probably help more at Utah.

If that were to happen, imhe would then be a downgrade from Kelly

It’s real this time. I’m good with K-Pop as DC. Really like Pou’ha as assistant HC. But I think getting Warren was vital.

No indications that they are transferring. I’m choosing to take that as a good sign (and probably means they’re ironing out any wrinkles in the contract).

This has been a very surprising off season. Crazy to think this team will come back next year and build on where they are now. They should start ranked top 15.

                            Cmon big transfers.

                              What's that all about?
                              Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

Not sure. He was at Boise for 4 years. CB coach all four years with the exception of 2023 in which he was also ST coordinator. FBS ranks below by season for Pass Yards Allowed, PED, and Interceptions.

Pass Yd Allowed / PED / INT

                                2021 (year before arrival) - 30 / 40 / 33
                                2022 (CB coach ) - 5 / 8 / 14
                                2023 (CB Coach/ST) - 107 / 80 / 52
                                2024 (CB Coach) - 106 / 106 / 107
                                2025 (CB Coach) - 15 / 16 / 22

The big drop-off in 2023 corresponds to when their previous defensive coordinator was promoted to head coach where he still is. All this tells me absolutely nothing other than perhaps fans place healthy blame for the poor 2023 and 2024 seasons on Warren.
