  • The Official 2026 BYU Football Thread

    Never too early to start.

Today BYU dropped several new changes to tickets at LES for 2026:

ROC section will no longer be split across the south and west stands but all located in the south end zone. My student son thinks this means a reduction in total ROC tickets available. Supposedly ROC Pass prices are going up as well.

7 home games means prices are going up for everyone: https://byucougars.com/football-seas...s-2026#pricing

New limits on ticket quantities for the various Cougar Club levels and general public.:

    Athletic Director's Circle - 12 tickets (12 chairs)
    Legacy VI - 12 tickets (12 chairs)
    Legacy V - 12 tickets (10 chairs)
    Legacy IV - 12 tickets (8 chairs)
    Legacy III - 10 tickets (6 chairs)
    Legacy II - 10 tickets (6 chairs)
    Legacy i - 10 tickets (6 chairs)
    Platinum - 8 tickets (6 chairs)
    Gold - 8 tickets (6 chairs)
    Silver - 8 tickets (4 chairs)
    Bronze - 6 tickets (2 chairs)
    Royal - 6 tickets (2 chairs)
    Y-Fan - 6 tickets (2 chairs)
    General Public: 4 tickets

Are those limits higher or lower than what was allowed for this past season?

Yes. Except for Legacy V to AD Circle, I believe. Looks like their limits didn’t change.

Isaiah Glasker returning. Now give me LJ and Johnson and I'm prepared to say we are even better next year.

agreed. We have done very well in retaining talent. Now need some big pickups from the portal.

I think our pickups will be underwhelming.

                Why do you think that?

Seems to me that BYU doesn't have a lot of immediate needs out of the portal again. I think if LJ goes pro than RB is the top priority and missing there could have a negative impact on next year. The second biggest need is at TE and I think BYU has that one covered well. I like Leafau as a replacement for Jack Kelly-although I don't believe Leafau is as good but Kelly is an NFL caliber LB so a step down is expected. I would like to see BYU get a WR 1 out of the portal who can really create on his own. But from where I stand the only miss that I think could hurt is at RB and that is only if LJ goes pro. I think if BYU found an upgrade WR1 and LJ comes back along with Bear-the BYU offense might have the firepower at the skill positions to even negate the reality that its OL is good instead of elite when they play DLs like Tech's from last year. But all in all I think there will be some good pickups that help immediately but the volume will likely be at a low enough level that it won't be flashy.

I think BYU has both some unique characteristics of many of its players, LDS kids namely, who have reasons other than football to want to go to BYU and I also think BYU has a good culture, plenty of money and good coaching which makes BYU continue to be attractive to kids who are only there for the football. Collectively, I think that results in BYU not relying upon the portal as much as others.

if we land Walker Lyons (and I expect we will…his gf lives in Utah), that’s a really solid pickup.

But the market is overheated for top tier transfer talent.

I’d really like a solid RB for depth, but not sure if we can pay the nil.

I think you just explained my underwhelming analysis pretty well.
Leafau will be the biggest splash (other than Lyons, if he comes), and he’s a downgrade from Kelly.

We’re just not gonna make a Texas-Tech style splash.

Anyone have a guess at Bear's new salary requirement should he return? I assume they don't let him get away and am guessing it will cost $2 million.

The amount that I heard they're paying for Sorsby (from Cincinnati) is $5 million. Don't know if that's real or not.
