I think we will do ok on offense at times but I also we will be very inconsistent and likely even more inconsistent now with a 2 QB system. UNR will likely have no issues running the ball against us and Jake Locker will make us pay with his legs. I think our D will be ok, but UNR is going to be a very good offensive team this year and I am not sure our offense can keep up.

For the most part I agree he isn't much of a blue goggler, but his statement that they can get to 3-1 regardless of the QB that starts is certainly a blue goggler statement. Riley Nelson can't throw the ball and BYU has an inexperienced running game. I don't see them getting through the first 4 games at 3-1 if Riley Nelson is the QB.

Yes but if you have Riley Nelson taking the majority of the snaps who is going to get the ball to your WRs?

In all seriousness, UW might worry me even more than FSU. Our LB's will have experience and film to work off of after facing Locker (and AFA) and FSU hasn't exactly been the model of consistency and playing to their talent. We could sneak away with one.
At least the Big Ten went after a big-time addition in Nebraska; the Pac-10 wanted a game so badly, it added Utah

We will run it down their throats and win going away.
            Exactly. We're not Utah.

I am telling you right now you are not giving this front 7 enough credit.

Pendelton is a future NFL linebacker (unless he tests positive for roids at the combine), Ogletree is a human missile in the middle, Frazier is more than capable on the outside. Van Noy is going to be a pass rushing weapon for us.

Manumaleuna is a beast, Fuga is going to be a great nose tackle, and Vic So'oto has been the best player on both sides of the ball throughout fall camp. Not to mention with the strength we have at corner if Steven Thomas is serviceable at FS then Rich will be able to play a lot closer to the line of scrimmage. Also do not try running outside with the speed of Pendelton and the tackling ability of Logan and Bradley.

Having Manu at DE is a huge advantage. This will be the best DL since Bronco took over as head coach.

Everything we know about BYU and Bronco suggests that if the job were truly just Riley's right now, they would give it to Riley. But clearly that's not the case, and I don't think it bodes well for Riley's future that he couldn't clearly beat out a kid four years his junior at the very beginning of his college learning curve.

My guess is we see something close to a split through the first four, and then when the schedule gets soft we start transitioning to Heaps and using Nelson as a purely situational guy to supplement our (possibly) weak running attack.
Wally seems really determined to see Heaps transfer or for BYU to do something improper to keep him from transferring.

I don't think he is weak.
                      I hope that's right.

I guess what I'm saying is that this game, being his first, at home, against his rabid ex-girlfriend, etc., brings more pressure than say starting against Northern Iowa.

Think a healthy Manaia Brown that is what Manumaleuna is, the fact that we can throw Putnam and Bryson in during pass rush situations is a nice coup as well.

I am a fan first and I hope to be pleasantly surprised. I sure as hell am not rooting for BYU to struggle against UW and UNR. After I see them play against UW I might completely change how I feel about our UNR prospects. As of right now though, the talent on D is nice but the experience is lacking and early in the season lack of experience could hurt us.

WHEW! Thanks for putting things in perspective for me. As a Utah fan, I was worried about the rivalry game for the next 4+ years, but since Heaps could be suckier than Riley Nelson, I won't miss any sleep over it.

The front finally looks like a 3 man front should. Ogletree and Hunter (or whoever else is in the middle) better be ready to make plays all game long because the chances are going to be there for them.

Guys we're going to be okay. Nelson on the 2 QB system just said:

"Nasty. Lethal. It's going to be real hard to defend."
