Have ever had a non-LDS kid with those kind of offers before? Maybe at OL, but receiver?

So is this new? Seems like a big get.

      Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

            This seems less than ideal:

Ben Bywater is apparently medically retiring from football.

Maybe these are the same question, but 1) Who do you want to be the starting QB on opening day? And 2) Who do you think the coaches will pick as the starting QB? Brandon Doman was on BYUSN stating that he thinks it will be Gerry Bohanon. Doman also said that he thinks the coaches already know who QB1 is and that they should name him earlier rather than later. Thoughts?

I'm not emotionally invested in any particular guy as the starter - I just want the best player to play.

                Current QBs on the roster:

Jake Retzlaff - redshirt junior - played unevenly last season. Showed arm strength and athleticism but was not consistently accurate and didn't always make the best decisions. His offensive line often collapsed before he had time to do anything, though. With better O-line play, I could see him playing much better this season (or not). His stats last season were...not good (50.4% completion percentage, 3 TD, 3 INT, 97.1 passer rating). Of the four games he played, his QBR was above 50 in zero games. It was pretty consistent, though, with all four games being rated between his low of 36.6 against Iowa State and his high of 44.8 vs Oklahoma State.

Cole Hagen - redshirt freshman - don't know much of anything about him.

Gerry Bohanon - redshirt senior - didn't follow his pre-BYU career very carefully. From reports, he sounds very strong and athletic. His stats from his last season at Baylor look decent (62.9% completion percentage, 18 TD, 7 INT, 146.6 passer rating). His stats from South Florida are less encouraging (56.9% completion percentage, 6 TD, 6 INT, 117.9 passer rating). He had pretty good QBR ratings during that last Baylor season, too. He had two games over 90 (95.0 vs West Virginia, 92.4 vs Kansas), and only two of the 12 games were lower than 50 (16.9 vs Mississippi State, 38.5 vs Texas State).

Treyson Bourguet - redshirt sophomore - don't know much of anything about him.

Noah Lugo - freshman - don't know much of anything about him.

McCae Hillstead - sophomore - His stats from Utah State last season are closer to USF Bohanon than to Baylor Bohanon (59.5% completion percentage, 11 TD, 8 INT, 128.8 passer rating). He only had three of eight games with a QBR over 50 - 88.5 vs Idaho State, 75.1 vs Air Force, and 54.4 vs San Diego State. His worst QBR games were pretty bad - 2.8 vs Boise State, 11.9 vs UConn, and 17.3 vs Georgia State.

I'm hoping against hope that Gary Anderson is the secret sauce that fixes some of those D-line woes.

So much monochrome which I dislike very much. The two royal blue/white combos are so good that's all they should ever wear, IMO.

I could not agree more. But this is a step in the right direction. I counted two whole games with the traditional royal blue/white uniform with white helmet combo (both home blue jerseys), and four whole games with a white helmet!

The royal blue helmet isn't the best and the full royal for the Utah game is dumb. It looks almost purple in person. Side note: the holy war stealing the UCLA/USC tradition of both teams wearing home jerseys is also dumb. It makes sense for the UCLA/USC game because it has its origins when they both played their home games at the coliseum. But the holy war has no tradition for it other than copying something else.
