Ah...Gwendolyn. Charles was such a lucky guy. Not to mention he was "in charge" of Nicole Eggert.

C'mon, you are every bit a sacred cow here as PAC is. Pettiness is not your style. Man up, take your ass kicking from him like a trooper and try to do better next time.

What happened in that clip? Some dude was hit by a firework and the teams agreed to end the game?
Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

Are you suggesting something here about the efficacy of insults? I need to know about this, for obvious reasons.

              • What a great thread.

                I love SU.

It varies greatly and can depend on many factors really; the individual, the timing of the insults in relation to recent events, the agregious nature, the general consensus among the stone-throwers, etc.

I don't claim to know the true efficacy of insults but having been called a warthog-faced baffoon one too many times in the same afternoon as suffering through the indignance of a flat tire on the interstate at rush hour I can tell you that the effects can be devasting.

In the video, the Chilean team was losing to Brazil 1 - 0. If they lost the game they would be eliminated from going to the World Cup. The Chilean goalie had a razor blade in his glove and cut himself with it pretending that he was hit by a firework thrown onto the field. That gave the Chilean coach an excuse to end the game and perhaps preserve their chances of qualifying.

The plan backfired. Video replay exposed the ruse. The goalie and coach were banned from FIFA for life and Chile was not allowed to participate in a world cup for many years.

While watching Chile vs Brazil in a quarter final World Cup match today I began reading this thread. Some people will do or say anything ... it was a perfect storm.

So FIFA is tougher on corrupt coaches than the NCAA. Is that your point?
