if the pac-8 members want it they have the votes as I cant imagine the arizona or mountain schools voting for it.
Bear in mind that one of the Arizona schools is run by a Stoops.

that being said I cant imagine arizona decision maker wanting games in texas and oklahoma versus california and the northwest. They have had 40 years in that conference.

I'm surprised you guys are so sure the pac16 would vote against.

Not that I'm predicting this, but the fact that a unanimous vote is no longer required (as it was in the Pac-10) for expansion, makes it conceivable that BYU could get the votes to be added as team 16 despite Cal/Stanford's blacklisting.

It just goes against everything we've learned the past 15 years. I will say that the past year has taught me that anything is possible...except BYU in the PAC-1X conference.

I learned that BYU actually had decent support in the PAC 10 last expansion go 'round. Cal And Stanford derailed things.

                The dynamic is different now.

Arizona, Arizona State, USC, and UCLA were always definite 'Yes' votes for BYU, going back as far as you want to go.

The only definite 'No' votes have always been in the bay area. The northwestern schools have been a toss up depending on the year.

Yeah, but 3/4 means 9 schools. Assuming Cal/Stanford are a no, even if Utah does us a solid and votes us in, you have to get 2/3 of the Arizona schools and Colorado to sign on. And that's assuming the rest of the PAC8 are on board. I just don't see it.

Now you're being silly. As already pointed out, Utah is a commuter school. The vast majority of its alumni are still in the SL valley. Stop pretending like having 250 more fans at a game in Pullman will make all the difference.

                          • Cal, Stan and Utah could vote no and BYU would still have 75% affirmative vote.

                            BYU is in.

maybe you didnt know this but but the new contract is going to have every pac-12 school make 25 million a year. how much more is it going to be with the Texas and oklahoma? I don't know but incrementally more per school worth it?

Utah is the easiest 'Yes' vote BYU has ever had in that conference. They would not only vote yes, but would do everything they could to lobby for BYU behind the scenes. Take that to the bank.

I still don't think it would be enough, however.
