All the more reason for the PAC to tell Texas to jump in the lake. Also, why deal with Pullman, Corvalis or Eugene?

Edit: you Jedi mind-tricked me. The cost into Austin is the same as it is into Seattle.

Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

If you drive to Vegas, you can get there for $200...

They'd only go to each of those cities every EIGHT years...

Agreed. I want Texas in the Big 12 where it belongs.

No. Or not the other way around, anyway.

Me too. They can go independent and that would be fine also.

                • You self-loathing fans who presume BYU will never be worthy of the pac16 (a belief you share with SU) forget a critical element of the PAC16:

What do the PAC8 really care if BYU joins? They will rarely see BYU other than in conference championships.

BYU would play Texas, OU, ASU, AU, UU, and CU. What a super conference!!

                  This dog hunts

But, but...It's a done deal! How can this next dog hunt when the fox is already dead?

Are ASU, AU, UU and CU just going to sign onto being separated from the California schools? I say no way.

                      • ...and anyone who knows the first thing about the pecking order of Texas universities knows that the good folks in austin couldn't give two shits about Tech. To think that Tech would somehow follow UT is ridiculous...especially in light of BYUs ESPN contract.

This is conjecture, but I'm putting my money on the PAC16 scenario including national TV powerhouse and ESPN stars, the Cougars of Brigham Young.

I can almost buy what Viking is saying. In fact, in a cougarboard chat a few days ago, I said that it wouldn't surprise me to see BYU in the PAC12 at some point.

However, I still don't see the pathway for this to happen for the very reason you cite. I don't see AZ, ASU, UU, CU voting themselves out of the PAC12 and into the Big12 South-ish.

With or without BYU, they would have to do that, which is why it won't happen.

Let me add, then the shit hits the fan. Baylor will sue the shit out of someone, a&m and SEC.

Not true. Just buy a ticket to Houston Bush and you have a 50/50'chance of being redirected to Austin. I've landed in Austin twice on flights to Houston.
