  • And aTm send notice that they will withdrawal tomorrow,

Texas A&M’s departure from the Big 12 Conference drew closer to reality on Monday when the university’s president, R. Bowen Loftin, sent a letter to the Big 12 board chairman, the Missouri president Brady Deaton, notifying the league that the Aggies would formally withdraw — very likely on Tuesday — according to two college officials with direct knowledge of the decision.

You were too cryptic. I will give you partial credit this time. The next time BYU rescues a BCS conference, you need to be more assertive with your info if you want full credit.

For non NYT subscribers, are there any more substantive deets? If aTm bolts tomorrow, the B12 is on the clock and will need a savior to maintain the 10-team TV deal. Looks like initial projections of an announcement during the weekend of the Texas game might prove correct.

Honestly, Missoura would volunteer to go to the SEC for free while KSU/KU/ISU would package themselves to the Big East/MWC/Missoura Valley or whoever would take them. I cannot imagine what's left of the Norte agreeing to anymore Tejas teams unless it's packaged w/ >=two non-Tejas teams. Literally, it's down to BYU or everyone goes their separate ways.

          • I can't imagine aTm would leave without being certain a place in the SEC awaits. This all seems to be moving pretty quickly, especially considering the time of year.

There aren't very many conference (or would be conference) anchors in college football. Here they are by my count (in no particular order):

              1. Notre Dame
              2. USC
              3. Texas
              4. Alabama
              5. Ohio State
              6. Florida
              7. Michigan
              8. Nebraska
              9. Oklahoma
              10. Penn State

There are only ten of them. Texas ran off one of them. If Dodds was what the Texas fans claim he is, he would have succeeded in only passing off its sloppy seconds to the Pac and then found someone else to better shore up the north.
Notice the UofKansas has played the Dirt Burglars 105 times (4th or 5th most contested rivalry in Div 1a), played UNL Cornhuskers 105 straight times (2nd longest continuous rivalry in Div 1a) and has shared a conference w/ UT for the last 15 years. The Red Leggers may not win em but there is something to be said for the guys who'll take a couple hundred punches and get up off the floor asking for more.

And, by the way, the Corn were the ones who pussied out in the end. Not the Jayhawkers. They may blame it on Missoura, but the Corn stuck the fork into the Big 8 and destroyed any hope of building a great athletic conference centered on the Great Plains. Now they've run off to suck on the teat of the Big 10's glory rather than their own. They're no conference anchor. They're just OSU/UofM's country cousins now. Osborne is a fool and was/is/always will be an arse.

Beings we're scheduled to meet aTm in Larryville next fall, it appears the Cougars will be stepping in. Ought to meet at the Free State Brewery for some John Brown Ale. Beautiful place the Free State Brewery.

And, more than anything, I hear that Bronco can get off some nice quotes. The Big 12 is the one conference on earth that'll bring out the psycho in a coach apt for an enjoyable quote. I'd love to see the Mormon version of: 1-'That call was BCS', 2-'ITS THE BIG TWELVE', 3-'I'm a 40 year old man', 4-'The players fat little girlfriends'. Gawd, I'd almost get down on my hands and knees to see the Big 12 invite UNM and for UNM to fire that slob they have and hire Mike Leach. How enjoyable would that be?

Maybe if KU, Mizzou, and the rest of the North sided with Nebraska on some of the Big 12 issues instead of sucking up to Texas and the South then there could be a "great athletic conference centered on the Great Plains". Instead the Jayhawks were all to willing to acquiesce to the Longhorns in order to keep the BBall tourney in KC. You guys wanted Texas and OU as your conference anchors and now you are stuck with them - at least as long as they will let the Jayhawks tag along. And when it comes to sucking, I suggest KU find a way to wean itself from the teat of Texas before they are forced off. If Osborne is such a fool and arse, why is KU's football program being coached by his Protégé?

Maybe if the North would have remembered how to play football, they wouldn't have had to tuck tail and run! It took Nebraska too long to figure out they were a has been and would never see glory days again...

See guys! Welcome to the BIG 12. We are not the SEC SEC SEC where as long as one of us wins we all win! We all hate each other with a passion! Some can hang with the BIG 2 and some can't. Those that can't get eaten and sent to the kids table. You want to be a big boy? you have to hold your own with the big boys!

That is why the big boys are looking at BYU and the fans love it! We feel like you guys might be someone that can hold your own! We have enough BU's and ISU's that we refuse to take SMU or Houston High.

Make no mistake, this is a sharks pool and you will be swimming with two very big sharks that ate Nebraska into irrelevance. The thing about both Sharks is that they don't stay down long!

OU is our natural rival, but it isn't what defines the schools. A&M focus way too much on beating UT that after 110 years it became part of their school culture! to where OU/UT hate losing to each other. But an 7-5/8-4/9-3 season isn't acceptable as long as one beats the other! We have 3 losses??? It doesn't fly! Last year we suffered a major train wreck. The first one in I don't know how many years. Everyone all the way down to the strengthening coach is gone other than Mack Brown for the most part. This year, we see a 7-5 season because it is a rebuilding completely. Next year, we expect to be back at 10 + win season or he will be gone also! OU is every bit as brutal!

So you suggest we suck UNL's teat and give up our beloved KC MBB tourney tradition so ya'll could play the CCG in freezing cold camarohead rather than Jerryworld? And, honestly, the Prop 48 vote hurt KU worse than UNL as KU's CLAS distribution system makes it hard for JUCO players to retain their eligibility (led to NCAA probation for cheating under Mangino). This is what has allowed the Bucktoothed Wizard to use the Jayhawk Conference transfers to beat us over the head due to KSuck's crappy academics. Yet, in the end, we're still here and we've never screwed anybody or bi&^ched about it or leeched someone else's traditions or walked away from anything. Heck, KU stood by UNL in the 1920s the first time ya'll tried to join the Big 10 and invited ya'll back into the Big 6. That's why the series was uninterupted. Later, Phog Allen helped make both CU/OkieState big time players when he started scheduling them in the 40s and pulled em into the Big 6 against everyone else's wishes. OU didn't even want the Pokes. And not only that, Phog Allen built the NCAA MBB tourney which pays for the NCAA enforcement system that allows UT/UNL to play w/ their millions w/ zippo expenses. And the thanks we get is to be ditched by UNL/CU when the going gets tough or relegated to a backwater by UT? By gawd, I hope BYU comes on board staring at all that glamor down south. After a few years in the Norte, they'll come to find out what a good/steady partners one can find in the UofKansas and ISU.

Ugh. You do remember that the only thing that prevented Nebraska from having more Big 12 titles than Texas was a half-step on Colt McCoy's ill-advised rollout, don't you?

Same story as every time! big Bully Texas when we can't compete! That is it it is unfair when they take all our money! BECAUSE you insisted on having it this way.

Or did Nebraska want someone to side with them on 'qualifiers'? Sorry but if your players can't spell 'cat' then they don't need to be playing football on a scholarship. Higher academic standards were needed anyways! the SWC had just gotten slaughtered with sanctions and it was just a matter of time before they nailed 75% of the BIG 12 if we didn't police ourselves first!

Edit: I also like to point out anytime you look at numbers to show how unfair the revenue sharing is in favor of Texas, It is always the year we won the NC and under the old system.
