    - Flexibility with and content for BYUtv
    - Medium- to long-term stability of the league

    What would the others be?

BYU has been independent for less than a year now. It has plenty of experience working within a league structure
BYUtv and the Longhorn network seem to be quite similar:

    - Both get at least one home game to broadcast.

    - Both can have same day rebroadcasts of all their teams games that were originally on ESPN's networks.

    - Both have unlimited rebroadcast rights to all their teams sports.

    - BYU has the rights to broadcast any game not picked up by ESPN. The longhorn network can broadcast games outside of the Big 12 regular TV pickups.

    - The big difference is BYU owns its network and equipment (like that $22M HD truck). The longhorn network is a partnership between ESPN and UT.

Plus B12 = twice as much money and you can buy a lot of exposure for an extra 12M per year.

Finally, B12 provides much more exposure for Basketball etc.
Although they will air two games live on BYUtv, they have the right to rebroadcast any of the ESPN games on BYUtv.

            Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

Nice try, Gaffe, but my team already owns the big 12.

                  • If reports of Notre Dame and BYU both being offered are true, I think BYU accepts the offer no question. Adding in Notre Dame, BYU and a 3rd team would give the Big12 a lot of strength. TCU would be the best football program but not sure if they would want another Texas team. Louisville would be a good add in terms of Football and Basketball. But do they leave the Big East for the Big 12? Boise would be a top football school but not much else and is out of the way a bit.

Is there any way they could convince Arkansas to jump back from the SEC?

Nobody stands and shouts "I am a moron and I hate my status in life!" However, guys with ugly girlfriends dump their ugly girlfriends when an average looking girl comes along. The folks running BYU like $$. I doubt they turn down the Big 12. There is no way Dave Rose would have stuck around BYU if he thought the decision makers were wired that way.

Right now we love independence because our last girlfriend was a fat and ugly trucker girl from Wamsutter. We were sick of her using our money to pay for the old tires she kept putting on the roof of her double wide. Our new girlfriend, we will call her the self-dancing Billy Idol, is not exactly beautiful but she has teethe, no STDs and we get to keep our own money.
So I guess that makes Utah like McDreamy in "Can't buy me love". Utah was the one mowing their lawns now we are banging hot blondes and are part of the popular crowd. Its only a matter of time until we put a flaming shit bag on byu's porch.

No, Arkansas is in hog heaven in the SEC according to all their fans around here.

                          And just forget about TCU...:

If A&M leaves, the Frogs aren't moving to the Big 12 Conference. Beginning in 2012, they will join the likes of Pitt, Syracuse, Rutgers and West Virginia in the Big East.

Get used to those names, for now.

                          [...]

And what happens then to the Big 12?

Again, let me offer an educated guess -- the league will invite BYU. Having dipped their toes in the chilling waters of independence, the BYU family, also beholden to ESPN, would likely race to join a BCS league.

And Baylor -- poor, worried Baylor -- could breathe easily, for now. Adding BYU would likely save the Big 12's Fox TV deal and, in so doing, resuscitate the Big 12.

Utah would be considered "whipped". They moved up from the "trailer park girl" to a controlling bitch that pays for everything with her dad's cash. Then Utah tries to do the fun stuff that they used to think was cool (black outs) and the cool new girl friend laughs and tells them to stop acting like a loser. you do remember how that movie ended, right? He got the girl but only because she left the cool crowd. He still drove a lawnmower.
