  • Reading this thread, I feel like Rip Van Winkle. When I went to sleep for my Sunday nap, the situation was

"A&M possibly will go to the SEC".

During my nap, it apparently went to:

"A&M is a sure thing to the SEC".

    And then to:

    "SEC snubs A&M".

I didn't think it was that long of a nap. Though I am now hungry for some Banana Pudding, so maybe it was.

It's curious they are melting down. Surely some over there are smart enough to figure out that TAMU and the SEC have already given the wink-wink nod-nod to one another.

There have already been earlier reports that TAMU is leaving and that that SEC had agreed to expand. Of course, these were "leaks", not official statements.

TAMU still leaves and the SEC takes them.

I think the more interesting questions are:

1)Does the SEC stop at 13/14 or do they go to 16? I think it's pretty obvious that they'll go to 14, but 16?

      2) What does the Big12 do in reaction?

      3) Does the PAC12 move before the Big12 does?

      4) The BIG has been very quiet. Are they doing anything or are they just going to be happy picking up the scraps to get to 14/16?

I think Aggie expects the worst, so they are not given to read between the lines.

I thought this was a funny sig pic that several posters are sporting over there

I think A&M to the SEC is still likely. The SEC is just getting A&M used to the idea of looking bad on a regular basis. I have a feeling this is all legal posturing by the SEC.

I think you are right. The statement is likely legal posturing. However, I believe that the meeting occurred to vote on the likely application from TAMU to join and also to talk about a 14th (maybe 15th and 16th) school.

The statement was fluff, but I think that some substantive work towards expansion was done in that meeting.`

This is a Texas A&M tradition. The corps of cadets squeeze their nut sacks to take on the pain of the football team at a critical point of the game.

I have to wonder if Cadet Rick Perry ever did this...

Given his GPA I would guess so.

              • It is fun reading texags and learning some of their rivalry smack talk, much like BYU and Utah fans have between themselves.......Aggie refers to them as the Whorns...clever.

A couple of questions that maybe our resident Longhorn fans can clarify....Jeff Lebowski, Uncle Ted, Babes....

                1. Gig em/hook em.....which was first? Because the one that was not first is a pathetic rip off.
                2. Why does Aggie refer to Texas as "t.u." obviously it means Texas university but is it supposed to be offensive? Do longhorns fans find it offensive? Seems about as funny as the YBU shirts I see at RES or up in Logan.
                3. Why does Aggie refer to longhorns as "sips?" I've seen that a bunch but don't get it

tea-sippers. A&M was where real men went to school to drink beer and become engineers and soliders. UT was where pansies went to drink tea and become lawyers and politicians.

UT was first. They are always first.

They also make the gig'em sign by putting their thumb up (like the "hitch hike" sign).

This comes from the Aggie War Hymn which is nearly 100 years old: "Goodbye to Texas University!"

Because they can't spell "longhorns"? Actually I think it is short for tea sips which implies something about the social class of the UT students.

                    • Per wiki, "gig em" dates back to the 30s.

"hook em" goes all the way back....to the 50s.

                      FAIL, t.u.

That's not still not as bad as that tradition they apparently have going on at Notre Dame:

Apparently at summer graduation last night, the A&M grads were chanting "S-E-C, S-E-C!" This whole storyline is totally bizarre to me. How much self-loathing must it take to jump at the chance to serve as a conference whipping boy?

No doubt they will all soon be sporting aTm t-shirts featuring the SEC logo and a list of all the SEC schools.

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."
