Interesting, BYU's legal department has been putting in long hours and are very tight-lipped about what they are working on other than to tell me it is related to football. I assume they are referencing conference deals or conference expansion. Truthfully it could be anything but I like to think it relates to conferences.

Maybe they found something in the MWC bylaws to get $10M out of Utah for leaving the conference.Originally posted by KillerDog View PostInteresting, BYU's legal department has been putting in long hours and are very tight-lipped about what they are working on other than to tell me it is related to football. "The following is what he said:
Last week I posted a message on this site, which, I regret, I had to delete just moments later. But since that time, I've received over one hundred messages from you and many others on this site asking about the contents of that post, and requesting additional information. I've had to wait until now to address those queries, and will do so by responding in one mass message to every one who tried to contact me:
I admit the means by which things have transpired is not as I expected, or as I forecasted in previous posts. However, I think BYU and its fans will be very pleased at how this saga will culminate. That is to say: I believe BYU's athletic department is on the verge of receiving a very good and very unexpected surprise from the Big XII.
This good news will come by the end of June, and I suspect it will become public shortly thereafter. If you have any friends or family within the school's administration, you may want to ask them about it; but don't ask them until the end of the month, because they won't know about it until then.
I'll post again on this site after the news is public.

Real or troll? One of the grandest benefits of the enlightenment was the realization that our moral sense must be based on the welfare of living individuals, not on their immortal souls. Honest and passionate folks can strongly disagree regarding spiritual matters, so it's imperative that we not allow such considerations to infringe on the real happiness of real people.

It could be that this blue dog is still in the hunt but I don't think the Big 12-2 is in any big hurry. Of course, they have until September 1st if they want BYU for 2011.Originally posted by KillerDog View PostI don't know, I just know conference expansion talk was the subject and long hours by the BYU legal department was a branch off of the topic. Who knows, maybe something will happen."If there is one thing I am, it's always right." -Ted Nugent.

Just like there was in the recent U of U move to the Pac-12, there is more here than meets the eye. I think the Big 12 is saying they aren't going to expand. But Nebraska is saying "Missouri made me do it." aTm is saying "The SEC wants me." Texas is saying "We want to go to the Pac-100. There has been as much misinformation as information in this whole thing.Originally posted by Ted Nugent View PostIt could be that this blue dog is still in the hunt but I don't think the Big 12-2 is in any big hurry. If they are doing a deal then they must be doing the deal right and not flying all over the country in a private jet trying to wreck conferences.--Beebe reiterated his stance that the league is not and will not be looking to add teams.Last edited by Uncle Ted; 06-25-2010, 05:59 PM."If there is one thing I am, it's always right." -Ted Nugent.

The constant assurances that no deal is being done reminds me of that Shakespeare line about protesting too much or something.Originally posted by Ted Nugent View PostIf they are doing a deal then they must be doing the deal right and not flying all over the country in a private jet trying to wreck conferences.

I think you guys are torturing yourselves.“There is a great deal of difference in believing something still, and believing it again.”

If they were saying nothing, that would be evidence that something was happening. That they keep saying they are not expanding is also evidence that something is happening. Basically no matter what happens, that is evidence that something is happening.Originally posted by KillerDog View PostThe constant assurances that no deal is being done reminds me of that Shakespeare line about protesting too much or something.
Reminds me of song from Cinderella.

No, torture is watching the rangers trying to play baseball in the Texas heat because there is nothing else to do while waiting for football to start.Originally posted by LA Ute View PostI think you guys are torturing yourselves."If there is one thing I am, it's always right." -Ted Nugent.
