      • I like how this article ends...

Big 12 is now the hunter and the Pac-12 could be in its sights

A year ago, the Big 12 was pushed to the brink by the defections of Texas and Oklahoma to the SEC. The remaining eight schools were searching for stability. The Pac-12 could have come in and finished the place off with a few tactical expansion moves.

The future was as terrifying as it was uncertain.

        Yet the league survived.
        [...]
“We will leave no stone unturned to drive value for the conference,” Yormark said, speaking in general. “Exploration and optionality is at the forefront of what we are focused on … Everything we do must create momentum for these [media rights] negotiations.”

        Everything.

One year after being the hunted, the Big 12 is doing the hunting; this time with a new, potentially aggressive, boss at the helm.

        Time to go hunting boys!

          • Oh yeah, Arizona is ready to jump ASAP.

Twitter was pretty fun last night. I can't believe ESPN put out that article on the P10 getting rejected by the B12 when ESPN is working a media deal with the P10. That doesn't bode well for the P10.

Some of the P10/ute fans are starting to enter the acceptance phase.

Have they left the “I hope Gov Newsome forces UCLA to stay in the conference stage” because nothing is better than when someone tries to leave and people force them To stay beyond their will.

In fairness, he did say this back in April. Pretty impressive prediction in hindsight.

Hoss, how can this be right if the UT system, including UT Austin, with 240,000 students, has a $31 billion endowment?

That wikipedia number is from 2019. More recent estimates have it pegged at $42B.

That article is funny - and catnip for ute fans still in the denial phase. Almost the entire argument is based on recent on-field performance by the utah football team. As if that matters in the context of conference realignment. Maybe you didn't notice, but UCLA, USC, and Texas have been terrible lately.
