  • What happens if Ohio State beats Michigan State, but loses to Michigan? Michigan goes to the Big 10 title game and loses to Iowa.

The result is Iowa goes to the playoffs and probably Ohio State as well, unless Oklahoma State wins out.
Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

Any team that loses to this year's Texas team does NOT deserve to be in the playoffs.

That's right! And Baylor is overrated... Who have they played that is worth a crap?

Texas will most likely knock the snot out of them too.

I agree. Unless Oklahoma wins their last two games by a billion points and some one loss teams lose Oklahoma should not be considered.

Doesn't memphis come with a FedEx truck full of money?

Iowa is a poser. The Hawkeyes played a weak OOC schedule with their only opponent of note being a mediocre Pitt team. They play in a weak division and their cross over games were against Maryland and Indiana. How does a program play in the Big Ten and not face any of Ohio St., Michigan, Michigan St., or Penn St.? There's a good chance Iowa loses to Nebraska in Lincoln on Black Friday...and that's saying something. Iowa will NOT win against Michigan, Michigan St., or Ohio St. in the Big Ten CCG.

They should have the division title wrapped up before they play NU. There should be plenty of motivation for them to finish unbeaten, but I could see them being upset. Iowa is going to go play the PAC12 winner once they lose in the CCG, and I'd venture they'll get beaten by the PAC12 champ as well.

Iowa will most likely play in the Big Ten CCG; they only have to beat Purdue this week or have Minnesota upset Wisconsin and the Hawkeyes win the Big Ten West. Nebraska has to upset Iowa to get to six wins and be guaranteed a bowl game. Iowa has beaten only three teams with winning records: Pitt (7-3), Wisconsin (8-2), and Northwestern (8-2). They are posers and will finish the season with at least two losses and three if Nebraska upsets them in Lincoln.

                        • I don't disagree that Iowa is overrated, but if they handle their business in the championship game, they probably deserve a playoff spot. They also killed Northwestern. Not a juggernaut, but a decent team.

I don't expect them to have any trouble with Nebraska.

i don't think either team would be able to hold onto the fourth spot (assuming they could get there) as they sit idle on ccg weekend. Everyone playing that weekend is playing another ranked team and the winner will jump an idle b12 team again.

Depends how you spin it... I don't think this ranking takes in account the ugly Iowa St win last week and the fact the pokes will lose to OU:

Agree if Iowa goes undefeated and wins the Big Ten CCG, they will have earned a playoff spot. Maybe that's the solution to the Big 12 not getting an invite - giving two playoff seeds to the Big Ten (undefeated Iowa and one-loss Ohio St.). But I have doubts about Iowa because of the Hawkeyes very favorable schedule which is comparable to Oklahoma St. and Baylor.

It's been a disappointing season for Nebraska to say the least, but if the Huskers have proved one thing, its that they are capable of beating an undefeated team in Lincoln (Michigan St.) as long as the refs allow a receiver to go out-of-bounds before coming back in to make the game-winning TD catch.
