Curious that they included Army in this. They couldn't justify BYU alone but could justify it for all independents? I imagine a lot of SEC teams will be scheduling Army now.

Yes, Army but not Navy. I suspect that napper'96 had something to do with this.

I think Navy is officially no longer an independent this summer.

                • The B12 is dumb

                  http://cincyontheprowl.com/2015/03/0...ng-true-champ/

While nothing is official as of yet, commissioner Bob Bowlsby appears fairly confident that his bosses will adopt a tie-breaker procedure that would allow the league to present to the CFP committee, ahem, “One True Champion.” Athletic directors from the conference will meet in Kansas City this Thursday, and Bowlsby believes that what is likely a vast majority of conference members are in favor of declaring one champ when it comes to football.

That’s next level stupid, like Old Big East “add Villanova for football” level of ignorant.
In essence, the Big 12 is looking at their problem of playing 1 less game against a quality opponent by rejiggering their tie breaker rules such that they can use the phrase “One True Champion” and not getting laughed at by everyone with working Internet. They’re simply trying to improve their perception in an attempt to push a team into the College Football Playoff.
Perception is reality 99% of the time but in the case of the CFP Selection Committee, adding an extra win over a quality, typically top 25 opponent means far more to them than a conference showing them that they actually have a methodology for naming the conference champ. Why the Big 12 doesn’t get that is beyond me.
This also tells me that the Big 12 believes their waiver to the NCAA for a Conference Championship Game is about to be denied. Typically conferences play a 13th game to determine the conference champ between the top teams in each division. The AAC will be starting this up next year when Navy officially comes into the fold. But unlike the AAC, the Big 12 only has 10 teams and, like a toddler begging for ice cream, has lobbied the NCAA to give them an exception.
                  Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

                  • I'm not sure we want to associate with that gaggle of idiots.

"Let's do something completely different and call it "One True Champion" by playing a round robin in conference, but then present two conference winners to the CFB playoff committee. Then, when we get left out, lets whine about it. Upon having our waiver denied for having a CCG with 10 teams, we'll make up some different tiebreaker procedures to really gives us "One True Champion", like we initially intended. We will continue to not expand so Iowa State and Kansas can make good use of the extra 1.8 million they will be getting each year (or whatever it adds up to), and continue to shoot ourselves in the foot with regards to the playoff."

Let me clear this up for you: we do want to associate ourselves with that gaggle of idiots.

It's likely the best we can do, but they sure to have poor leadership and continue to go against the grain when everyone can see it's no in their best interests to do so.

They're just waiting for BYU to come in and Holmoe to lead the conference.

BYU will swoop in to save the conference when it is hanging by a thread.
