    • BYU could become the perfect fit for B12 expansion

      http://www.deseretnews.com/article/865617299/BYU-could-become-the-perfect-candidate-for-Big-12-expansion.html?pg=1

The Big 12 expansion rumor mill is churning overtime these days, and the Brigham Young University Cougars get a mention in nearly every article written on the subject.

I think the incompetence of Big 12 leadership is a greater factor than any reluctance to add BYU. Besides, the Big 12 is run by Texas and OU and both schools have played BYU recently.

Or maybe Baylor and TCU have a bigger voice than I think (they don't) and hate BYU just as much as Stanford, but for different reasons. Sometimes it's hard to gauge who hates Mormons more: the Baptists in Waco or the atheists on the Farm in Palo Alto.
Yeah, there is not a chance in hell that we are getting into the Big 12. I doubt that OU and Texas would want to have to play BYU every year.

          Valid point.

Utah broke their brotherly bond with BYU and joined that heathen conference just so they wouldn't have to play us all the time.

            • Dallas rag: Pros and Cons of rumored expansion targets

              http://www.dallasnews.com/sports/col...-expansion.ece

Pros: The Cougars have a rich history, have a large stadium and already showed they could hang with the Big 12 (41-7 win over Texas on Sept. 6). The Cougars also have a dedicated international fanbase (despite Utah's small population) and a TV deal already in place with ESPN.
Cons: BYU doesn't and never will play on Sunday. That means some interesting arrangements for sports like women's soccer, especially where travel could be an issue. In reality, though, there aren't too many local candidates with the same kind of resume the Cougars posses.

                1. BYU

If the Big 12 islooking for the full package — a school with broad support and success in marquee sports — it need not look further than BYU. The Cougars have been bowl eligible every year since 2005, the start of the Bronco Mendenhall Era. BYU basketball has also been a relative mainstay in the NCAA Tournament over the last three-plus decades, and typically plays above its West Coast Conference pay grade.
In terms of geography, national fan interest for those in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, school prestige and potential revenue, all signs point towards incorporating BYU. And on top of how the move would help the Big 12, it helps BYU even more, giving it a gateway into the playoffs it otherwise would not have had as an independent.

                • Mike Casazza doesnt want to expand

                  http://www.charlestondailymail.com/a...141219865/1278

We’re being yanked by our ears into conference expansion rumors again. It took minutes before laptops fired up and spread rumors about some combination of Boise State, BYU, SMU, Cincinnati, Memphis and USF being brought into the Big 12 just so the conference could retroactively address the enormous error that saw it submit co-champions to the CFP committee. It’d be hypocritical to spend time and words on a topic that deserves neither, so consider this a short and simple way to say it won’t happen.
Mike Casazza sounds like a huge jerk.

I hope women's soccer doesn't keep us out.

I guessed he would be from West Vg. I checked and he is.

Interesting to read the stupid argument (again) that adding two more teams will dilute payouts to everyone else. Especially, from a fan of West Virginia - like the Mountaineers are somehow paying their own way in the Big 12. When the Big 12 lost A&M and Missouri they were "yanked by our ears into conference expansion" and West Virginia was the beneficiary. And now they want to close the door?! West Virginia could very well be the next TCU or Baylor.

It goes well with the sudden switch from being indignant about the BCS cartel to being Power 5 fanboys.
