Again PK and James passing around the rumor that "arrogance" is what killed BYU getting into the BIG12.

Those two don't get it. When your crap doesn't stink, it doesn't stink. That is fact not arrogance.

Out of curiosity do they ever get specific? Exactly what issue did BYU specifically get arrogant about? I think the only issue I see BYU digging in its heels is Sunday play and I would hardly call that being arrogant. Others might interpret it that way, however. I just think bandying about the term "arrogant" is real easy without having to really say anything specific about the situation.

I don't even believe the negotiations got far enough along for BYU to have a chance to get arrogant. Given BYU's situation they will always be the final choice in the process because they have nowhere else to go so the Big-12 can keep BYU languishing. However, eventually the Big-12 will have to get to 12, at least, and I believe BYU will be one of the two additions.

Barry Trammel breaks down the schools most affected by realignment. He has positive things to say about BYU. Trammel thinks the Big 12 is a long shot for BYU, and the only P5 conference that would invite BYU.
Trammel thinks Big 12 expansion is "a big if" and that's the reason BYU joining the Big 12 is a longshot. My hope is that the Big 12 is forced to expanded in order to play a CCG and have slot in the new playoff system. Perhaps then the Big 12 will add another eastern team to pair with West Virginia like Cincinnati or Louisville as well as BYU since the Cougars are the best program out there. But it will probably take something like an undefeated SEC team loising their CCG to a team it already defeated during the regular season and then not making the playoffs while a one-loss Big 12 team that doesn't have to play a CCG makes the playoffs.

It's the reputation of arrogance that allegedly started in the MWC. DJ and PK speculate that in early negotiations with Big-12 that they might have played a little too much hardball and reinforced that reputation. Many here have speculated the same mostly because of BYU wanting to retain BYU TV.

To tell you the truth I don't pay much attention to what they are saying. Actual information is always mixed in with their awful attempts at trying to be humorous.

I did catch them saying it wasn't the Sunday play issue. I would totally agree as a strong tenant of our faith that is an issue where no compromise would or should be considered. I can imagine it being a stumbling block, but not associated with arrogance.

From the bits and pieces I have heard it has to do with demands revolving around the TV stuff. I have heard over and over again arrogance claims from the MWC. Well, we deserved to be arrogant in that conference. It has totally fallen apart since we left. They don't even play football anymore, just basketball.

The Oklahoman is the number one source for Oklahoma City breaking news, politics, business, sports, entertainment and obituaries.

Barry Trammel publishes some stuff emailed to him by a BYU fan named David Moore. I wish there would be a really good history of what happened back when the Big 12 was expanding. Texas and Oklahoma were rattling sabers and talking about leaving at the time and there was no grant of rights. I think the back story of what was happening would be very interesting.

Message boards--including ShaggyBevo-- seem to believe BYU had an invite and blew it. Is there any snippet or quote anywhere that makes that sound plausible?
