You'll probably find thousands of posts here and on CB making that claim. Viking alone probalby has a hundred.

I'm wondering if the ACC isn't stronger after the loss of Maryland and the addition of L'ville. I really don't know, but Louisville is stronger in both football and basketball. Maybe the Maryland market is bigger, but it sits near some major NFL teams. Do people (not just students or boosters) really care about Maryland U sports?Originally posted by Omaha 680 View PostIt's a puzzle. I cracked the code. I'll give you bottom line: Florida State will probably go to the Big 12 if the ACC crumbles.
Maybe this is a silver lining for BYU in that the southern ACC schools might spurn any Big 12 overtures since their conference is actually stronger from a football perspective. I can't imagine they'd be more pumped to play Baylor or Iowa State over Duke or Boston College. The Big 12 is then left to either poach more Big East schools (UConn or Cincinnati) or come west and pick up BYU and one other school (Air Force or ???).
Wishful thinking, I know, and not very skeptic of me, but when it comes to BYU I'm partial."Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

BYU and Boise State and my interest in BYU football would be restored to its perfect state every jot and tittle and even down to the last lost hairs of my head!Originally posted by Moliere View PostI'm wondering if the ACC isn't stronger after the loss of Maryland and the addition of L'ville. Why is the flag up? Doesn't the mailman lower it when he takes the outgoing mail away? Or is the point BYU is not really asking although they want the mailman, which symbolizes us, to think they are asking when they are really not? If the point is the mailbox is empty then shouldn't the flag be down?Originally posted by YOhio View Post

It absolutely is. It now has incredible basketball schools (many of which are not premiere football schools), and football schools with great tradition/history (many of which do not have storied basketball programs). IMO, this sort of diversity makes them extremely solid. Of the BCS conferences, the B12 is looking more and more like the sick calf who is about to be devoured by the other Big 4. People will rant about TV rights, etc., but I'm not buying it. Depends on what you're talking about. It is definitely stronger athletically, but overall as a conference it is weaker. Compared to Maryland, Louisville is an inferior school in a smaller market. There's a reason the B12 hasn't added Louisville, and also a reason the B1G targeted Maryland and Rutgers rather than someone like Louisville.Originally posted by Moliere View PostI'm wondering if the ACC isn't stronger after the loss of Maryland and the addition of L'ville.
