I still recall my favorite sports message board post by an Aztec fan in the aftermath of Chuck Abouo's one great offensive hoop game of his BYU career after Chuck, Jax and Jimmer beat the Aztecs in San Diego that blessed saturday afternoon and three days before our balls were once again ripped through our throats. The dude wrote something along the lines that with that loss he was done hating BYU. They won and he lost but he could not longer emotionally handle hating BYU because every time State was on the verge of something good it was always BYU there to kick them in the teethe. Leave the MWC and never play us again...the Y wins and he lost. It brought tears of joy to my eyes.
Amazingly, BYU threw 4 interceptions and still scored 63 points. It didn't hurt that SDSU reciprocated by throwing 5 picks of their own and coughing up 2 fumbles for good measure.

I realize that they hate us (as do many teams) and that is why I conclude that the only true reason why teams like SDSU complain that we are so hard to deal with is pure hatred based on years of losing. But seriously, other than sunday play, I can't think of anything BYU has done that others in their same position would not have done. Oh well.

I'm still amazed at how much SDSU fans hold on to the notion that BYU let Chad Bunn make that call. That BYU is culpable and dishonorable for the Chad Bunn call. Cracks me up that they think that.

I remember that game well. It seemed like Marc Wilson's first six passes were all TDs. It was awesome.

I'm pretty sure his first 3 were. This is one of those games I wish byutvsports.com would finally cough up and post on their website.

Your shitty site doesn't have when/how the tds were scored but IIRC, I was 7 when I watched it but I recall it being one of the first memories of BYU football, I thought BYU scored like the first 3 offensive plays it ran and the interceptions were from the back up qb, Royce Bybee maybee, after Marc Wilson went to the bench because some LDS Ute fans, likely with facial hair, were screaming that BYU RUTS was the greatest threat to the stone cut without hands.

Seriously ask LAUte! that has nothing to do with it and it is all because of the fans.

              • Still not as sweet as that 52-45 (i think?) win where they came back from like 35 down. I remember my dad going to bed and laughing at me insisting that THEY STILL HAD A CHANCE!
At least the Big Ten went after a big-time addition in Nebraska; the Pac-10 wanted a game so badly, it added Utah

Which will forever remain the highest scoring tie game in NCAA history.

                      The largest lead was 45-17.

What an exciting game that was. I think it was a Thursday night game because I remember watching it at home.

I also remember Lavell being asked why he didn't go for the win. He said a tie won the conference championship, so they kicked the point because the conference championship was always goal #1.

IIRC, that was Ty Detmer vs Marshall Faulk. Fantastic game.
