My BYU friends, I don't believe that BYU nixed the deal. I think that's a lie purveyed by BYU PR folks, i.e., spin. (My only source is my mind and reason.). I hope this helps.
So you're saying we didn't dump the B12, the B12 dumped us. And you think that would help? Calling us losers?
Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.
Dig your own grave, and save!

Yeah, he overreacted. But some posts are so dumb that they don't need to be dignified with comment. Especially an equally emotional one.
(admittedly, this is advice that I should heed myself)
I get where you're coming from Dude...
but, it doesn't take much emotion from me at all... to call him a zoob asshole.

I feel betrayed with all of this. Last year when BYU went independent it felt like the first time in my lifetime that BYU had made a serious commitment to athletics. They were in essence saying, "Screw all of you that have been dragging us down for decades! We're finally doing what's best for US and us alone!" Then, barely a year later, they make a completely moranic decision that shows a complete and utter disregard for all things athletics...ESPECIALLY Dave Rose and the basketball program he is putting together. Sigh, this is depressing. Oh well, I'll get over it.
Actually, no. The new contract with Fox, that begins next year, will have almost every game, except one per team, shown under the Tier 1 or Tier 2 contract. Every conference game will be shown under either the Tier 1 or Tier 2 contracts. One game per team is reserved for teams local TV contracts and any game (all sports) not picked up under the Tier 1 and Tier 2 contracts can be shown by the school's Tier 3 TV provider.
I guess it comes down to whether ESPN provides more and better exposure than FoxSports for BYU football. Texas and OU will dominate the Tier 1 slots with ABC/ESPN. And some of the Fox channels are regional meaning that BYU fans not in the mountain west may be out of luck. Here's a breakdown of this Saturday's Big12 coverage:
Baylor @ Texas A&M - FX
Okie St. @ Texas - ABC/ESPN
KSU @ Texas Tech - FSN (regional coverage)
OU @ Kansas - ESPN2
Iowa St @ Mizzou - TBA
And there would most likely be a 6th game with BYU joining the Big 12. If BYU is winning and playing on ABC and ESPN than the exposure is great. If BYU is losing in the Big 12 and not playing Texas or OU then their games are somewhere on Fox (perhaps regional) or the dreaded TBA.
I don't know. Perhaps that's not any worse than the BYU @ Oregon St. game since I'm not sure where that will be shown.
The point I am making is that BYU will have a more difficult schedule to navigate in the Big 12 and if they have a losing record then BYU games will be airing on Fox channels (unless against UT or OU). If BYU stays independent, they probably have a winning record and are playing on ESPN more frequently. But the upside is that if BYU is winning in the Big 12, they will play on ABC and ESPN more often and receive greater publicity for winning in the Big 12 as opposed to their current schedule.

Ah yes, that crafty Chip Brown and his BYU PR machine.
Who else would you call if you were the BYU SID and wanted to plant this story? It's a freebie, like when Columbia law kept me on the wait list all summer and I finally got all balled up in frustration and wrote them and said no thanks I'm going to Georgetown. I could have said I rejected Columbia (but I was too honest) and Columbia could not have disputed it. (Columbia wrote back and just said, "have a nice life!)

Hello Mr. BYUApologist. Couldn't be that the BOT and admins at BYU are just plain wrong and short-sighted. Right?
Don't worry about people stealing your ideas. If your ideas are any good, you'll have to ram them down people's throats.

It helps. You were right all along SU. Thanks for being there. Would that I could pour us each a scotch so that we could toast the future.
Just read through today's posts. Damn, this is depressing.
I really hope this wasn't about 72-hour rebroadcast rights on the Fox games because anybody who really wanted to watch those games would find them anyway.

It wasn't. Use your 180 IQ.
