I'm going to have some sympathy for you before I ignore you. I had a horrible start here. I went after a gem of a guy, AA, relentlessly. I'd say it's the most publicly embarrassing thing I've ever done.Originally posted by atheistcougar View PostBeen there, done that, wasn't for me.
Just stop the shrugging, and just refrain from getting into cliché arguments here. In short, look to Woot, not Catblue, as the model of how one should act on this board if you're of the "god is dead" fold.

Love it or hate it, the BEAST scenario is precisely what my UH Booster friend approached me about this a.m. I shot it down, but he was adamant that BYU is on board.Originally posted by Viking View PostYou want deets? Here's a morsel. I chat with a California contact most fridays, so have at it:
Unsurprisingly, BYU is being courted by the BEAST right now, who believes they can go to ten schools and preserve revenues.
This would include olympic sports, which given the BEAST is technically expanding, we can exit our WCC deal. It's a step up from indy, step up from the MWC, HUGE olympic sport step-up.
In addition, ND will sign a multi-year 1:1 with BYU. ND is not interested in the B12, from what I understand, but this sounds more like opinion than "info". It's not a fit for them, as it follows. ND is ND. They don't need anyone and are committed to the BEAST's strength.
I still think there's a chance non-olympic goes to B12 for ND. But this is an alternative route I'm relaying.
West Division:
BYU
BSU
AFA
HOU
SMU
East Div:
Cincy
UCF
RU
UCONN
UL
I still think B12 picks BYU but they will lose out unless they move. I think the B12 guys are smart enough to know this, but I also know that BYU isn't going to sit around.
Odds? Only a little more than 50% in favor of the B12, ultimately. BEAST is very likely, but less than 50%Jesus wants me for a sunbeam.

Viking, please stop. I'm asking you as a friend. You are only hurting yourself and the ones you love.Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

I've presented one of the three alternatives BYU is looking at right now, after speaking with DeepThroat (he was literally suspected to be deep throat in some circles, though never in the press that I ever saw; DrCoug, NO COMMENTS!).Originally posted by TripletDaddy View Post

I'm not sure why presenting what a connected family member has heard has to be controversial.

Apologies, I didn't mean to imply that your post was controversial. On the contrary, it isn't controversial, even in the slightest.Originally posted by Viking View PostI've presented one of the three alternatives BYU is looking at right now, after speaking with DeepThroat (he was literally suspected to be deep throat in some circles, though never in the press that I ever saw; DrCoug, NO COMMENTS!).

Here's a tip: Playing the martyr doesn't work around here. I speak from experience on this.Originally posted by atheistcougar View PostI'm just fine with words, thanks. However the quote mentioned two 50% chances, and made no mention of them being separate from each other or being relative to staying independent. Please point out where the post mentioned those were odds vs staying independent?
The "not good with numbers" comment was a direct response to Viking's "fucking waste of time" comment. I get it though, I can't respond in kind, but others can, gotcha.Col. Klink: "Staff officers are so clever."
Gen. Burkhalter: "Klink, I am a staff officer."
Col. Klink: "I didn't mean you sir, you're not clever."

Again, there's no upside to posting what I hear. I thought of it as sort of a democratized way of following the multiple ups and downs of this but there's no point.Originally posted by TripletDaddy View PostApologies, I didn't mean to imply that your post was controversial. There is a difference between pointing out a double standard and playing the martyr. I'm not playing the martyr or the persecution card, that would imply I did nothing to piss people off and people were just being mean because of my forum handle...which I'm not saying.Originally posted by Flattop View PostHere's a tip: Playing the martyr doesn't work around here. I'm fine with being a nonbeliever, thanks. If I start feeling too much love, I'll try it out, though.Originally posted by Flattop View PostYou want a double standard? Be a Ute fan on this board.
