There are some messed up people over there. The birth of CUF marked the death of CB.

This reminds me of the civic duty we each have to drop some form of profanity here from time to time, if only to keep the average CB user away from here. It's not enough to rely on me, because I can be easily ignored. You, good guys, too, must act and keep this a Zoob-free zone.

I think Texas wants 10. No need to rush to 12 because you might just land the golden goose - Notre Dame - if the Big East keeps destabilizing.
Also, it seems there are still lots of reports (on radio stations) that WV might be going to the SEC. It doesn't seem like this rumor is dying.

If true, it's imperative we be #10. If (and that's a big IF) ND ever decides to join a conference, they will be allowed to bring whoever they want with them, if they so desire. So, if we aren't already in the club, even though we might be the most logical choice to go along with ND, if ND wants someone else to join as a travel partner or whatever, ND will get what it wants.

        • Oh, no. Chip Brown, university of Texas employee, is tweeting something again. I'm very concerned especially based on his track record this summer.

The only thing that could make this day start off any worse is if the Texas legislature decides to get involved....

Uncle Ted loves Chip Brown almost as much as LAU loves Ted Miller and Jon Wilner.

Chip Brown is the self-proclaimed official spokesperson of the Texas Longhorns. What is there not to love?

Folks, you gotta understand this stuff is like the stock market. It reflects the information of the moment and whether you buy or sell it is 100% up to you. Shooting the messengers just makes you less equipped to buy or sell.

The part of CUF that makes me laugh the hardest is the part where CUFers suck their own wangs. Sorry, Redlegger, you're a close second.

In reality the CUF crowd isn't as different from the CB crowd as either would like to believe. It's like going to a Star Trek convention and seeing the nerds argue about whether the original was better than the Next Generation.
I think, perhaps, the only person who hates BYU fans more than ute fans hate BYU fans, is Bronco Mendenhall.

The Big 12 is a league of tender feelings, trust issues, jealousy and gang hissy fits as a very arrogant and powerful University of Texas towers over all with its $300 million deal with ESPN for the Texas Longhorn Network. Texas will not share its gold.
Dick, did you really just use the expression "hissy fit" in an article?

BYU left the MWC primarily because the league's TV partner, Comcast, and other presidents did not want BYUtv to rebroadcast games. It would be highly hypocritical for BYU to let the Big 12 restrict that after leaving the MWC because of it.
Oh yeah, by golly, we wouldn't want any of our old MWC amigos to think we are hypocritical. No sir, we can't abide the thought of that.

And Dick, you dumbass, we left the MWC because the MTN network gave us almost zero exposure and money.

Finally, I enjoyed how Dick states how awful Texas is:

The Big 12 is a league of tender feelings, trust issues, jealousy and gang hissy fits as a very arrogant and powerful University of Texas towers over all with its $300 million deal with ESPN for the Texas Longhorn Network. Texas will not share its gold.
Followed a few paragraphs later by an admission that BYU is just like Texas in many ways:

In Tramel's list of pluses for BYU, he listed large fan base, a good tradition and, as an independent, most readily available. As minuses, he listed a Texas-like reputation in getting along within a league.
And this is true. Many times in the MWC, BYU would talk like Texas. It bugged folks at Wyoming, Colorado State and New Mexico. But BYU had clout, ticket numbers, the fan base, ratings and championships; others did not.
                    Attaboy, Dick.

What are you talking about? Next Generation was way better.

I happen to know Harmon prefers Sizzler over Red Lobster.

I also happen to know that, love him or hate him, he is far and away the most connected and informed sports journalist in this market.

A few years ago when I was still in the sports media, I was on assignment to a BYU home game. Every game, with about 4:00 left in the fourth quarter, the reporters who will be doing locker room interviews are invited to take the elevators down and watch the rest of the game from field level. This routine gets the reporters into the interview room and out ASAP so they can meet deadline and go home, and also allows the fat cats up in the president's box to use the elevators uninterrupted when the game ends.

I was standing in the southwest corner of the field with all of the other notebook-carrying geeks, trying not to listen to Gordon Monson offer his unsolicited commentary to an innocent bystander, when I turned around to see Cecil Samuelson standing a few feet away. Just then, Harmon walked over, warmly greeted the president and asked how he was. The two then spent the final few minutes of the game chatting it up like old fishing buddies.

If anybody knows what's going on at BYU, it's Dick Harmon. Don't buy the humble "in my opinion" asterisk he uses in his articles.

the article reads like someone who is making an announcement. There is no reference to sources or anything, its just a statement. It reads like Harmon dressed up a list of talking points he was given by BYU.

Read in that light, what his article says is
                            1. BYU is still negotiating hard, any reports to the contrary are disinformation put out by the other side as a negotiating tactic.
                            2. Meanwhile, as a negotiating tactic, we are putting out information about how absolutely, positively important to us all our demands are, we're just crazy enough to walk away from the table if you don't meet them, so you might as well meet them because, wooh, we sure are crazy.
lol that is about how I read it too

I know Harmon is connected, but that's also because he's the mouthpiece of BYU. Just like Chip is for Texas. I have no doubt that Harmon is sitting on everything right now. That's why BYU loves him. He'll do whatever they want. I don't blame him at all. He knows he still gets a paycheck today, because BYU will take care of him with breaking stories and insider knowledge.

I believe he and Wrubbell are know the most when it comes to what is going on at BYU. I also know they won't share it with anyone if it isn't strictly the party line. So how much is it really worth??
