After a few minutes of reading Apocalyptic messages full of weeping and wailing on Cougarboard, including my favorite "WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE!!!"... I decided to come over here and see if anything was really going on... and I got stock quotes. These are strange times I tell you.

Here's my opinion:
As much as BYU has done itself no favors in terms of PR with the B12, the fact remains that the B12 wants to get to at least 12 teams. It seems logical that BYU would be in the next two teams chosen.
If it could raid the ACC and bring Clemson, FSU and GT, then I see little chance BYU makes it into the B12, as the fourth team added would be UL.
Its best hope would be the PAC12 realizing the commercial importance of getting to a bigger-sized conference in the era of super conferences, which to me, is inevitable. Or another scenario is one where B12 goes to 14, then picks up BYU and ND to go to 16.
What is true is that BYU mismanaged this situation from the beginning. Pride cometh before the fall.
