I can see their issue. If BYU fans just have to wait a few hours to watch the game, they're less likely to want to subscribe to the FSN package (which isn't all that easy to find). At least the Big Ten went after a big-time addition in Nebraska; the Pac-10 wanted a game so badly, it added Utah

They've probably done some market research on the legendary cheapness of of the average BYU fan.Originally posted by ERCougar View PostI can see their issue. I don't recognize those as fans. I doubt then that they would sign up anyway.Originally posted by ERCougar View PostI can see their issue. Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

Exactly. ESPN and ABC don't care because ESPN is now available on almost every cable package. FSN is not. FSN fears they will either lose subscribers, or - most likely, not gain the number of subscribers they would hope to gain with the expansion.Originally posted by ERCougar View PostI can see their issue. Simple solution: don't rebroadcast. The complain with The Mtn. wasn't that there were no rebroadcasts, it's that for the first year you couldn't even get the channel outside of select areas in the MWC footprint. You can get FSN all over. The fans that actually want to watch the game will be able to.

I am guessing it potentially competes with the other content that FSN may be showing (i.e. other football games like those late night Pac-12 games that it seems very few people watch). FSN wants all the eyeballs it can get.Originally posted by myboynoah View PostWasn't it 72 hours before? Now down to 48 hours. Hold out, BYU, you're winning.
Why would FSN not want BYU carrying its content, including logo, on BYUtv within 24 hours of the original broadcast?
I think BYU wants to show the replay ASAP because they don't show games on Sundays and Monday nights. Therefore, if they don't get the within 24 deal then it won't be until Tuesday they show the replay anyway. FSN should compromise and let BYUtv show the replay after it broadcasts its last live game (making the replay late night Saturday/early Sunday morning). Of course, this may make some folks sleep in and be late to church."If there is one thing I am, it's always right." -Ted Nugent.

Guilty as charged.Originally posted by Omaha 680 View PostThey've probably done some market research on the legendary cheapness of of the average BYU fan.
I'd totally wait rather than track down FSN.
I think it's a bigger issue for FSN than ESPN because they have bigger distribution issues. At least the Big Ten went after a big-time addition in Nebraska; the Pac-10 wanted a game so badly, it added Utah

I don't even know where to find FSN! Apparently we were on FS-Pacific or something last week. Anyone find that feed?Originally posted by Marvelous View PostIf we don't get in the Big 12 I'm blaming it all on you.

That makes sense to me. They want to try to keep those eyeballs that were watching the BYU game watching the next games.Originally posted by Uncle Ted View PostI am guessing it potentially competes with the other content that FSN may be showing (i.e. other football games like those late night Pac-12 games that it seems very few people watch). How many games each year would this affect?Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

Yep. I live in Nebraska and watched it live on DirecTV channel 617. Easy. Just call your provider and tell them what channel you want, and they'll let you know what you need. It's like a five minute conversation...after being on hold for 10 minutes.Originally posted by ERCougar View PostI don't even know where to find FSN! I just had flashbacks of calling Dishnetwork and asking them to add the Mtn. The customer service rep insisted they already had it and kept telling me about FSN Rocky Mountain. Those were dark days.Originally posted by Marvelous View PostYep. I live in Nebraska and watched it live on DirecTV channel 617. Easy. I was playing around, but as I think about it, it's a little irritating.Originally posted by Marvelous View PostYep. I live in Nebraska and watched it live on DirecTV channel 617. Easy. I get internet through my cable company on a triple combo with phone and tv. So now, I have to switch to DTV and get just phone and internet through my cable company so I can pick up the 2-3 games a year that Fox Sports is going to pick up that are ESPN leftovers? FSN seems like just a more expensive MTN.At least the Big Ten went after a big-time addition in Nebraska; the Pac-10 wanted a game so badly, it added Utah

I thought most cable companies offered Sports Pack options, similar to DirecTV and Dish. Is that not true? I haven't had cable in almost 10 years, so I may be completely wrong on this.Originally posted by ERCougar View PostI was playing around, but as I think about it, it's a little irritating.
