Let's say he is right. With all that's transpired with inviting TCU and MO in or out and the interest in WV and Lville, I find it very doubtful the offer is still on the table by the time we get around to signing it.Originally posted by Tone Loc View PostI actually heard the same thing. Not that that really matters, but I really think he is right about this one.

This is exactly why various university boards (Texas A&M and OU come to mind) authorize the school president to make a move. To be sure, many details are known to that board before giving those powers up, but it reflects the mercurial and fluid nature of these negotiations. Schools need to be ready to act, not dissemble in committee.Originally posted by jay santos View PostLet's say he is right. TCU doesn't have the approval of their board yet. Apparently it is only at the "letter of intent" and pending approval of their board stage for them.Originally posted by San Juan Sun View PostThis is exactly why various university boards (Texas A&M and OU come to mind) authorize the school president to make a move. I should've listened to that still, small voice in my heart that said, "Nothing good can come from posting what that professor told you, Shoganai."Originally posted by TripletDaddy View PostThis is a nice bookend companion to piece to shoganai's other greatest hit, Cecil Samuelson's lunchtime diatribe, "WHEN WE SAY SOMETHING WE MEAN IT, WE'RE NEVER JOINING THE BIG 12!"
Oh well, I'm sure somehow I'll manage to go on in spite of losing credibility with a few members of the prestigious group that is CUF regulars.

Don't back down Shoganai. I also heard a similar thing two degrees from a professor who was there.Originally posted by shoganai View PostI should've listened to that still, small voice in my heart that said, "Nothing good can come from posting what that professor told you, Shoganai."

So, Shoganai, please respond to my comment.

I'm pretty open to speculating on a lot of things, but the inner workings of the Board of Trustees, and the idiotic curators in Columbia are things I'd just as soon stay away from.

Fact: Cecil said we wouldn't be part of the "D-1 football arms race."Originally posted by shoganai View PostI should've listened to that still, small voice in my heart that said, "Nothing good can come from posting what that professor told you, Shoganai."

Fact: Cecil said that didn't preclude us from being in the Big 12.

"That's why I turned down the Big 12. I can't do that to my kids, because they'll get beat up. I'd love the extra $12 million or whatever it would be per year from the TV money. And I know how I'd spend the money. I'd build a new soccer stadium, and I'd build a new baseball facility, all in one year. But I can't do that."
AFA AD...
That blows my mind.

Big East Wants Boise after they add AFA
I knew the Big East wouldn't roll over. I wonder if this will be enough to keep Louisville from bolting. WVU, either to the SEC or the Big 12. If Boise State is seriously considering the Big East, you have to believe they have also reached out to the Big 12. I wonder if the Big 12 is considering them. I don't remember them being widely mentiond as a Big 12 candidate yet."Our interest is high in the Big East. That's fair to say," Air Force athletic director Hans Mueh told the Denver Post on Saturday. "This stuff is moving fast."
So fast that the movement might not be stopping with the Falcons. There were reports Sunday in The Boston Globe and Newark (N.J.) Star-Ledger that Big East officials have discussed the possibility of adding Boise State to the league as a football-only member.
The Broncos, currently ranked sixth, would give the Big East a needed boost on the football side, with Pittsburgh and Syracuse soon departing the league for the Atlantic Coast Conference.
Mueh said he expects Air Force's athletic future to be decided by the end of October, and that he wants Air Force to join the Big East in football. The rest of Air Force's athletic teams would compete in the Missouri Valley Conference.
Mueh is hoping the other service academies can join Air Force, too.

That is crazy if you consider it alone. But couple that with the fact that he has a chance to get into a major conference with the other two service academies and it makes a lot more sense. Don't worry about the geography. Air Force can get to the games really fast.Originally posted by LiveCoug View Post"That's why I turned down the Big 12. I would be willing to bet a hefty sum that if Air Force and Boise State are seriously considering the Big East, BYU has been in on those conversations as well at some level.Originally posted by Omaha 680 View PostBig East Wants Boise after they add AFA

The Big East might end up being the perfect vehicle for the long-speculated conglomeration of the top mid-majors, although it would be an extremely round-about method of getting there.
