I'm shocked you called him. This is out of control if you picked up the phone to reach out and touch your once-proclaimed mentor.Originally posted by Viking View PostI just had my first "real" conversation with a guy deeply connected to BYU, the institution (as opposed to someone focused the athletics). There are rumors that donors are being contacted. Maybe. But not him; hasn't heard a peep...and he "owns" BYU alumni relations along the Pacific coast.
Not saying it's not happening, but if you are hearing from people that major donors are being contacted, I'd guess unless they are Ira Fulton and a few others (i.e., the few "impact" donors), it's highly unlikely to be true."Don't expect I'll see you 'till after the race"

I'm just saying that a lot of the rumors are focused on donors being contacted...I can pretty much assure that's not happening other than perhaps a few people.Originally posted by Uncle Ted View PostSo why would major donors be contacted if BYU was staying independent? To let them know that we are still playing Weber St next year?

FWIW, the day before the PAC-12 invite was announced Utah contacted major donors to give them a heads-up and to invite them to the press conference. BYU may be doing that now.“There is a great deal of difference in believing something still, and believing it again.”

Major donors are not being contacted. They were already contacted last year in the summer and their feelings were polled about independence and Big XII and how either of those would affect donations. Viking, you can confirm this if you want with your buddy. As far as I know, which is a decent amount, no donors were contacted regarding the current negotiations.

In addition, if BYU was staying independent why wouldn't they just release a statement saying such? It would save them a lot of phone calls.Originally posted by KillerDog View PostMajor donors are not being contacted. Right...I'm just saying the doofuses over on cougarboard who claim to be insiders are likely full of shit, as several of them were touting this "donors being contacted" bullshit.Originally posted by KillerDog View PostMajor donors are not being contacted. Cool.
One request to the cougarboarders here: please act like you belong. Don't post B12 logos, wear B12 shirts, place B12 bumper stickers on your cars. Leave that nonsense to little brother, Utah.

Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!
For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.
Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."
