Texas cashing in big time with their own network. That pretty much eliminates BYU fans dream of Texas going independent with BYU....

I think the good aspect though is that it pretty much ensures that Texas stays in the BIG XII. It should create a more stable conference unless some other conference will let Texas have their own network. Now we just need that invite.Originally posted by LiveCoug View Posthttp://texas.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1148672

Interesting,
That was with Texas, TT, OU, OSU, CU, and A&M all going west. With only Utah and CU going, I wonder what that number looks like now? 15? How long does SC watch this happen and not demand more? Maybe SC is all about the PAC-12.Pac-10 commissioner Larry Scott told the Big 12 schools he was courting in June (Texas, Texas Tech, Texas A&M, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and Colorado) they would receive $20 million in TV revenue as part of a conference network if they went west................Two Big 12 sources told Orangebloods.com Scott's numbers were overly aggressive, and that the TV revenue would have been closer to $18 million per school.

No kidding. Maybe SC will be the 12th team and join BYU in the Big 12.Originally posted by Coach McGuirk View PostInteresting,

I don't think this has a negative impact on Texas' prospective independence at all. Nothing about the success of this network appears to be tied to conference affiliation. In fact, I think you can still theorize that the $12mil might be even higher if Texas could make its own schedule.Originally posted by LiveCoug View Posthttp://texas.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1148672

That being said, I think I'd actually rather see Texas stay in the Big 12 and invite BYU at some point.

A post on the OrangeBloods forum concerning the UT ESPN deal...
BYU love in Texas.I think what is missing from this picture is the temptation factor.
Notre Dame now has a huge incentive to join the Big12 as opposed to any other major conference. They can join and KEEP their tv production rights. Can't do that with the SEC, Big10/12, Pac12, ACC etc... How about a 10 million dollar tv package to go along with a 20 million dollar conference package and their own channel on cable? That's what we're getting.
Big12 expansion with Notre Dame and BYU. I'm starting to feel it."If there is one thing I am, it's always right." -Ted Nugent.
