OK, this logic makes sense to me. (in a homeristic view giving complete faith to notion that BYU and Big 12 are very close to working out a deal)
1. Big 12 has plans to invite BYU to get to 10 with plans to get West Virginia and Louisville to get to 12.
2. TCU has been in discussion but doesn't rank as high as BYU or WV/Lville
3. MO gives notice of intention to leave, and the Big 12 powers feel like this new development requires a slight strategic shift which jumps TCU higher in the attractiveness rankings. ie solidify Texas presence and keep these SEC bastards out of our recruiting grounds.
4. TCU is quickly invited and announced to upstage the MO announcement. MO abstains from vote.
5. MO announces leave for SEC.
6. BYU is announced as the 10th team.

WVU to SEC,
Louisville/Cincy to Big 12, Mizzu stays=12
LOL, Cincy over BYU?
Wouldn't be prudent....not.gonna.happen.

That was logic? I'll admit to never having taken a logic course. But most of that seems like speculation to me. And doesn't make sense to me. I sure hope you are right though.
I don't get this. Big 12 goes to 16. OK. Why does SEC think they need to follow. And let's say they do. Why does Pac think they need to follow?
You're back to this ridiculous assumption that a nice clean 4 X 16 is the fate of college football. It's a stupid assumption.
I agree. I don't see the 16 as well. But I also don't understand the 14. I guess you would have 6 conference games and one consistent opponent on the other side for 7 games and then play the other 6 conference foes once every 3 years?
Sixteen leads to 7 conference games, doing away with your one other side consistent foe, and playing the other 8 once every 4 years?
12 is the size that makes the most sense to me. You play your 5 and then the other 6 every other year.

What does prudence have to do with any of this? Besides, Cincy and Louisville are perfect travel partners, and bring a long shared history between them (C-USA).

No, not really logical. And certainly not Ocam's Razor.
But I'm trying to put together a narrative that preserves the assumption that we've been in talks with the Big 12 over the last month as their #1 target and that a deal has been done for the last couple weeks which will be announced as soon as little odds and ends are tied down. This is an assumption that I as a BYU homer am holding onto like the last leaf.

Are travel partners still a real thing? Do Colorado and Utah travel together?
Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

Because Cincinatti brings nothing except good looking unis. In fact I think my alma mater ended a 20something losing streak against Cincinatti.
Neato for Louisiville and Cincy's long and shared history but that ain't gonna get the Bearcats near Bevo's teet!

12 may make the most sense but why has the best football conference in the country already taken steps towards at least 14? It may not make sense but someone believes it makes more money.

With SBNation it really depends on what you are reading. There is some great writing on the national sites with SBNation. Even some of the local sites are very good. Athletics Nation was started by a former sportswriter. BlazersEdge is maintained by a former sportswriter and current contributor to CNNSI.
