Why are ya'll down on the LHN?

Unfortunately, you're right about the LHN being poison. But a big part of the motivation to keep the Big 12 together for Texas is to get the revenue from the LHN and keep it. If they don't get to keep it, why not seek a new, more stable conference?

This whole thing continues to be more and more fascinating. I just hope BYU has a nice place to land.

This soap opera was not caused by the LHN. That's just Teja$$ just getting what Teja$$ has coming to it. Go over to Phog.net and listen to the RedLeggers squawk about sharing our Jayhawk Network money w/ Ksuck/ISU, "By gawd, that money is ours." BYU/KU/KSuck et al gotta find a way to make money off of the LHN. How many other conferences have two conference mates capable of eating all the production costs so the Jayhawk Network can just feed the broadcast over the air? LHN didn't cause this. Powers/Boren's egos and desire to sit in the same room as the Stanford/Cal brass caused this soap opera. These Roughnecks/Nutless Bovines gotta learn to stand on their own two feet and quit leaning on someone else.

If this happens, I wonder how many times the "Mormon Extermination Order" will be brought up during games with Mizzou. I'm guessing that, and highlights of Steve Youngs play in the Holiday bowl will be a regular.

Why would we leave the Big 12?

Yeah, they are showing it on the bottom line on ESPN right now. But some conflicting info:

"Missouri informally agrees to join SEC." "SEC denies that it has extended offer to Missouri."

The Big 12 schools sit around posturing while their conference gets picked apart. Idiots. Tomorrow we will probably hear that Kansas is going to the Big Ten or ACC.

It's our conference. Phog Allen built the dam thing. We were the ones who'd play OU when they were still a territorial school. We're the one's who stuck w/ UNL the first time they left the Big 6 for the Big 10 in the twenties. That's why our rivalry streaks were uninterrupted for over 100 years. Phog Allen was the visionary who started scheduling CU in the 1930s to form the Big 7 in 1948. And it was Phog Allen who teamed up w/ Hank Iba to bring OkieState into the conference in 1958. OU was opposed to bringing on OkieLite back then. Later, it was our AD, Bob Frederick, who was the driving force which transformed the Big 8 into the Big 12. BYU would've been in the Big 12 back then but Freddy couldn't handle some of the Teja$$ politics. That issue ended up costing us the CU/UNL rivalries. That sucks but it wasn't our decision. Why would we leave? We're the freaking backbone to this thing. We want to turn it into a Great Plains version of the Big 10. We want UNL back. They don't belong over there, and they know it. Our idea is to make this thing work not walk away from it. I personally can't wait til the Cougars are on board and we get on w/ business.

This is two years in a row now that the PAC has gone to the edge with Texas to only realize that it won't work. You'd think they would learn.

To smart people this outcome has been predictable all along. So ask yourselves why there has been so little talk about BYU to the Big 12? (I'm not counting these insular boards. I consider most every bit of inside information a lie or spin, considering the norm.) Last year we knew Utah was on Larry Scott's white board, and almost immediately after Pac 16 fell through Utah was announced as an invitee. Smart people also saw this as predictable.

I think BYU to the B12 is still an open question.

The Big East seems more likely to try to rebuild itself through the addition of football programs. Navy, Air Force, Temple, Central Florida, East Carolina (which has formally applied for Big East membership), Memphis and Houston are now the most plausible candidates. Big East officials have spent little time discussing those colleges, as most of their attention has been focused on the Big 12 programs.

It will be interesting to see what schools the Big East adds. Some of these are possible Big 12 targets as well.

While some Big 12 sources see BYU as a target, source close to situation says its "doubtful" BYU would want to join volatile B12 right now.

8 AM - A well-placed source with knowledge of the situation said it's doubtful BYU would be the 10th school in the Big 12, and it would be more about BYU not wanting to join the Big 12 than vice versa.

Some Big 12 sources were pointing at BYU as a leading candidate to replace Texas A&M as the 10th member of the Big 12.

But BYU sees the Big 12 situation as simply too volatile right now to forfeit its independence, the source said.

The source put BYU's chances of joining the Big 12 at "80-20 against."

That might promote Louisville to the leading candidate to become the 10th member of the Big 12.
