If the Big 12 really holds together with 8 schools for a while. I would advocate joining the Big 12 leftovers. Being in a conference with the following is MUCH better than Indy:
Texas
Texas Tech
Baylor
Kansas
Kansas State
Missouri
Iowa State
BYU
The question is: Is Texas big enough to hold the rest of the conference together?
Add to that - BSU, AFA, UNLV & UNM and you have a 12-team league that would play some damned good football as well as damned good basketball.
East:
Texas
Texas Tech
Baylor
Kansas
Kansas State
Missouri
This. If Okie State and OU leave and the Big 12 is down to Texas, Tech, Baylor, Kansas, K-State, Iowa State and Missouri, those 7 teams look to add five schools in to get to 12 as a preemptive strike. I think they look to add schools that are strong hoops schools with either a good football tradition or potential for improved football. I think the following would be almost locks for invites:
Pitt
Louisville
BYU
After that, the following schools may make some sense:
Memphis
UNLV
New Mexico
TCU
Air Force
UTEP
I think Oklahoma and OKSt to the Pac just doesn't seem like a fit, but stranger things have happened.
I certainly like the idea of Louisville & Pitt + one better than UNM UNLV & AFA, but I don't think the Residual-9 is going to be able to pull them away from one of the other Super Conferences.
Historically, Utah's basketball program has considerably more accomplishment than Oklahoma's. Also, Utah's football has been more succcessful in the past decade. Re academics, it depends on what you're talking about. Utah's med and law schools are ranked a lot higher (med is 33 places higher).
You are so full of shit. Utah is OU's bitch in both sports--recently and historically. Dont give more credit to Utah's one deep run in the NCAAs than you should.

Possibly the most sexist post I've ever read.
When a true genius appears, you can know him by this sign: that all the dunces are in a confederacy against him.
I see LA Ute has taught you how to link photos....
I'm pretty sure she just wanted a good close up of the WWJD bracelets that the students are wearing. You know, to show us how well CTR rings fit into the Big 12.

I would agree. The problem is that I think the actual list might look something like this:
Baylor
Iowa State
I really hope Texas does decide to stay. Yours would still be a decent conference
BYU should adopt "Fetch 'em" as the new battle cry. Maybe toss up a "thumbs down" salute. As fellow BYU fans pass each other on the street or in the mall, passersby will know us by our instantly recognizable slogan and hand gesture.
FSU preparing for realignment possibilities, such as moving to SEC or welcoming Texas into ACC
Florida State has begun taking forceful steps to prepare itself for conference realignment, whether that means joining Florida in the SEC or becoming part of an ACC super conference that may include Texas.
With recent talk of a possible formation of four super conferences, Andy Haggard, chairman of FSU's board of trustees, said Tuesday that his school has begun forming a committee that will explore the university's options. He says FSU should be prepared for any scenario, whether it's moving to another conference or staying in the ACC and having a say in who else may join the league. That could mean Texas, which will seek to leave the Big 12 if Oklahoma and Oklahoma State jump to the Pac-12, which is expected.
Texas A&M already is likely to leave the Big 12 for the SEC.
A high-ranking Texas source told the Austin American-Statesman that the ACC has been in contact with Texas, although the talks have been preliminary.
