          Just one hang up.

Citing that TV deal and its revenue-sharing model, Scott did say that Texas could not keep the Longhorn Network if it were to join the Pac-12.

            TTU is not going.

            BYU goes. (if there's a pac16)

            I'm telling you...

I'm not saying I wouldn't be the same way if I were a Utah fan (barf) but don't play us for fools by claiming that's not your real reason.
Sorry to disappoint but it is my real reason. Most of the Ute diaspora is in california and the pacific northwest. You can bet they would rather have games in those locations than in oklahoma and texas. being further down the totem pole doesnt mean that much.

I'm still not sure what the answer to this question is...

Would Texas rather maintain the LHN? Or would it rather maintain a major conference for its minor sports?

I have to think they would consider independence just as seriously as the Pac-16. They can try to petition the Big East to become the 18th member (and 9th non-football), or settle for C-USA.

Really the Big East thing might not be hard to pull off given the current political issues in that conference.

Diaspora? If there ever was a wide scattering of Ute alumni, it would be in parents basements across West Valley City. Forgive me. I'm just bitter about missing out on being in a BCS conference.

I guess I'm supposed to believe that being the 6th or 7th best football program in the conference vs. being the 10th or 11th best program in the conference is of no import. You can say it all you want, but it doesn't get any more convincing.

                            looking at the pac-12 bylaws:

Membership shall be limited to institutions of higher education holding Division I membership in the NCAA.
Applicants shall provide such information as may be deemed necessary and appropriate by the Commissioner.
New members may only be admitted to the Conference by three-fourths vote of the entire CEO Group (ceo group is one member from each school)
if the pac-8 members want it they have the votes as I cant imagine the arizona or mountain schools voting for it.

It's not that I don't believe you. I think you are accurately portraying what you have been told. It's just that what you are telling us is unbelievable. It's nothing personal; Tom Holmoe himself could tell me that this was in the works, and I don't think I'd believe it until I saw it myself.

Apparently some phantom ranking by fans is more important to us than actually having road games where we have larger number of alumni. Yeah that is solid theory you have there.
