Absolutely. Is Texas really going to be OK with sharing revenue equally with Washington State and Oregon State?Originally posted by Babs View Postyes. Are the Oregon and Washington schools (or Arizona schools) going to be OK with being almost totally cutoff from the Southern California schools in a 16-team league?
If Texas and OU didn't like the idea of a conference championship game in the Big 12, then are why would they want to have to get past USC or Oregon in a conference championship game after getting past each other in their sub-conference??
Meanwhile the Big East champ can continue to coast into a BCS game and only split the revenue 9 or 10 ways? Just doesn't make much sense.

Setting aside the absolute epicness of RedLegger's post and focusing on only the substance, I think he's pointed out an obvious - but hugely important - flaw in any PAC-16 talk. Texas does not like California at all, aNot sure if the feeling is mutual but the cultures definitely clash (similarities of Texas Barbies to everybody I've ever seen on Weeds aside). Austin is probably a city that appeals to many but the rest? Not so much.Awesomeness now has a name. Let me introduce myself.

Good for you. I think most (but certainly not all) of the comments were fair, but that is a silly question to answer. And there is not a lot of objectivity around here these days.Originally posted by LA Ute View PostOh, you mean the one entitled "Is Utah anything more than a commuter school w/ a good med school?" Such an inviting thread. What Utah supporter wouldn't run over there to participate in the discussion?

Does this LandThieves guy on Twitter have any credibility?
Also, Baylor University has a page asking Texans to save Texas football by contacting the leadership at Texas, Texas A&M, and Texas Tech and telling them "to stop this madness that will lead to the dissolution of the Big 12 and the end of an era for Texas."Rumor of the night is that OU,OSU,Tech,Texas, KU,Mizzou will move to disband the conference in lieu of paying exit fees

If the PAC-16 in this form comes to fruition it'll mark the craziest year and 4 months of college football transformation of my lifetime. Crazy for the Utes to go from MWC to PAC-12 South to Big-12 lite in such a short amount of time. All the while BYU doing everything in its power to get a foot in the door.Originally posted by myboynoah View PostDoes this LandThieves guy on Twitter have any credibility?

I find this quote kind of interesting. It is almost like he let something slip out.Originally posted by Surfah View PostMack Brown interviewed by Chip after the Rice game:
I asked Mack Brown if he had any reaction to reports that Oklahoma is already making plans to go to the Pac-12, and he said, "I think you should call DeLoss. I've got too much on my plate. I'm trying to get ready for BYU now, and I didn't know if that would be a conference game in the future. So call DeLoss."
Another interesting thing that Mack said that indicates he has no interest in Texas heading to the pac-12+4:
Holding the Big 12 together, no matter how dysfunctional, is still UT's top priority, sources said. Even football coach Mack Brown weighed in on Monday, saying he wants players' parents and Texas high school coaches to be able to see their players in Big 12 games played all over the state of Texas."If there is one thing I am, it's always right." -Ted Nugent.
"I honestly believe saying someone is a smart lawyer is damning with faint praise. The smartest people become engineers and scientists." -SU.

From Chip Brown:
I don't know why, but that "May or may not work out" makes me laugh. It's as if we're getting reports on some middle school romance on the rocks.Texas wants to hold the Big 12 together. Hard to believe, but true. In intense discussions with OU. May or may not work out.
Is this all just a charade? If so, to what end?Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

That is because this is what BYU and ND demanded.I agree with Babs. Punitive liquidated damages clauses such as what Dr. C. is talking about are unenforceable. I've been told by people that DeLoss Dodds is a genius. So far mostly all I've seen him do is spin off Nebraska and aTm, which doesn't seem to be very genius-like to me. On the other hand, he did Jedi mind trick the PAC into taking Colorado.Originally posted by myboynoah View PostFrom Chip Brown:

Is this all just a charade? If so, to what end?Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”
