You need to keep PBW on track... I am talking Big 12 groundswell.

It was a one-and-done where BYU was paid around $1 million. But I wouldn't be surprised if an actual home-and-home series gets scheduled or a game in Denver. Scheduling that series/game will be more difficult if both teams are playing 9-game conference schedules.

Uncle Ted is trolling with his Nebraska back to the Big 12 comments. The only groundswell for that is in Bill Snyder's senile mind.

To bring this back to topic, I wonder what BYU's non-conference schedule will look like once the Cougars are in the Big 12 and only have 3 non-conference games to work with. Hopefully, Utah stays on BYU's schedule. Add a cupcake game for a warm up (does Utah St. qualify?) and that leaves only one game per season for a team like Nebraska on BYU's schedule. Given the rigors of Big 12 play, playing Utah and another quality team like Nebraska might be too much to schedule.

Are we sure it would still be a 9 game conference schedule? I would hope it would be 8. That way we could have Utah, a cupcake, a MWC team, and a premier P5 opponent. I assume the Boise series would end.

Call me nuts but I kind of like the Boise series.

I don't mind it. It's good little regional rivalry. Its just problematic with only 3 no-conference games. What do you do with the USU series? We have a fair amount of good P5 opponents lined for over the next couple of years. You keep at least one of those every year. You obviously keep the Utah game every year. But you need a cupcake. Boise and USU are out.

Good point. The Big 12 currently has a 9-game conference schedule but they could go back to eight like they had when there were 12 teams. The B1G and PAC-12 have a 9-game conference schedule while the SEC and ACC play eight conference games. From a scheduling perspective, if BYU can always schedule a "premier P5 opponent", then if would be a great schedule every year. If BYU cannot and that "premier P5 opponent" ends up being another MWC team (or worse), BYU might be better off with a 9-game conference schedule.

                    • Many P5 schools like to play 7 or 8 home games each season. When BYU gets invited to the Big 12, I will be okay with keeping 6 home games and a yearly neutral/2nd home primetime, national TV, marquee game here:

That's a series I'd prefer to keep. They have been a good partner to us, they scheduled 10 games with us at a time when we needed games. Their fans would be disappointed if we cut the series short. I think we should be committed to keeping that one, because they actually threw us a bone.
