So now the MWC and PAC fight over Texas State? So weird.
Also, can AF and UNLV really be sure that they will get that money?Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!
For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.
Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

Why? It's like they are stumbling around in the dark just reaching out for something to hold onto.

There is an 8-team minimum for FBS conferences to remain as conferences. The Pac-12 is currently taking advantage of a 2-year waiver to get back to at least 8, and they still need one more. The Mountain West will need to add two teams from somewhere. There aren't a lot of good options for acquisitions, at least NIU and Toledo are already FBS. They might have to promote somebody from FCS, like Sacramento State, North (or South) Dakota State, or one (or both) of the Montanas. The other options I've heard a lot are New Mexico State and UTEP.Originally posted by myboynoah View PostWhy? Yeah, I understand the MWC's dilemma, just don't understand why they are reaching out to MAC schools. Given the schools that are sticking around, it is going to get squeezed on its next media deal. Better to stay in the west to limit travel budgets. You mention the better solutions: New Mexico State, UTEP, Montanas, Dakotas. are the obvious solutions.Originally posted by Pelado View Post

There seems to be a lot of animosity between the two leagues, so that doesn't appear doable right now. The PAC wants to create the clearly fifth best football conference, so may take another run at Memphis, Tulane, and UTSA. Or it could try to bring in UTEP as a bridge to future expansion. As for the MWC, the future looks grim IMO.Originally posted by USUC View PostWhat are the chances that after this all plays out, they just ultimately merge? Seems like the alternatives are untenable for both leagues.

It's appropriate all this is being discussed in a thread triggered by Utah's movement 15 years ago. They are the poison that ultimately killed the conference of champions and the downstream effects of the infection is wrecking multiple smaller conferences. I'm just glad Utah's new conference mates recognize what they have been forced to take in.

Memphis and Tulane are probably smart to stay in the AAC because when the ACC ultimately loses FSU and Clemson they’ll likely look to those schools to replace what they lost. The ACC without FSU and Clemson is a better league than the current PAC.Originally posted by myboynoah View Post

I've seen some accusations that OSU and WSU have been making some unreasonable demands about money distributions from playoffs and media rights. Terms appear to be acceptable to some MWC teams but not from programs further east.Originally posted by Moliere View Post

Yeah, probably best to stay put until things settle in the ACC. If FSU and Clemson do find a way out, that conference is going to blow up. Memphis and Tulane can then join with those dregs to form an eastern version of OSU and WSU are trying to do.Originally posted by Moliere View Post
