Yeah, and half of those seem like someone getting caught saying something really stupid and then claiming "I was just kidding!" after getting put on blast.

When your fanbase is earning a widespread reputation as arrogant jerks, leaning into it via trolling is an odd choice to make.

FWIIW, @MHver3 says the 4th school is Tulane. So, yeah, there are really no good expansion options for the Pac 12-2. Although Tulane would be a better choice than Rice maybe. Ranked highly by The Princeton Review:

      • Tulane held multiple rankings from The Princeton Review in 2023: Best Quality of Life (#7), Best-Run Colleges (#22), Happiest Students (#1), Lots of Beer (#4), Lots of Hard Liquor (#5), Most Engaged in Community Service (#2), Their Students Love These Colleges (#6).

As of right now with the 16 schools (which includes UCLA/USC) each school will get about $75m per year (not including post season; e.g. playoffs). Adding Oregon and UW this would reduce the pie slice down to roughly $65m/year/school. What Cowherd is saying about the B1G only wanting to give 50% payouts to Oregon/UW makes sense. The B1G schools don't want to take a $10m/year haircut to add them but could maybe live with $5m less, however.

The Big 12 contract, on the other hand, has a pro rata clause in the contract (at least with ESPN) if they add P5 schools. So If the Big 12 adds Arizona and Colorado, for example, then the Big 12 media partners would increase their money they pay so each school gets about $32m each.
You may be correct on your calculation, but the B1G does not always give a full share at first; usually teams have to phase in. For instance, Nebraska did not receive a full share until about 3-5 years in. The Huskers initial share was only a little more than they would have gotten from the Big 12. I'm fairly certain that Mayland and Rutgers also had to phase in for their full share. I wouldn't be surprised if that condition was lifted for USC and UCLA because of their market value. However, given the phase-in history of the B1G and your mention of the current media contract not increasing if Oregon and Washington join the B1G, the 50% payout seems in line. Wonder if the B1G is waiting to see if any of the 4-corner schools join the Big-12 before offering a lifeboat to Oregon and Washington.

Yeah, I think the reason USC and UCLA didn’t have a phase in was they were part new contract negotiations and added value to the conference. Adding two teams would require a contract modification to get more money. However, it doesn’t give the B1G network partners more games to broadcast, just more to pick from. There would be more games on the B1G network and the network would need to pay the conference more if they want to broadcast more games.

if Cowherd is right, and I suspect he is, then Oregon and UW have their “lifeboat” already from the B1G. A half revenue payout from the B1G should be more than the new PAC 12-2 contract can give them but they would have an increase in travel expenses they will need to consider.

I suspect the Big 12 has a tentative offer to at least two PAC 12-2 teams as well. They may have even been talking to Oregon and UW. Everyone is just in a holding pattern waiting on the new contract announcement. Unless the PAC 12-2 can get a miracle contract from someone like Apple (tv) they will be no more. If the pac 12-2 does stick together I suspect they will not expand (like the Big 12 did with just 10 schools) and have an unequal payout at least for the post season money.

That is a hilarious illustration of just how dumb and useless that MHVer3 guy's tweets are. You mean they aren't going to jump until they know the TV deal numbers? Wow.

Ironic. No self-awareness. Yeah, the lack of expansion options include anyone in the Big 12. The only school the Pac would consider adding from the Big 12 is Kansas. Hence, no movement from the Pac to the Big 12.

                            Haha.

One of the top P12 shills on twitter was promoting the University of British Columbia as a possible expansion candidate yesterday. UBC! Can you imagine? Talk about a delusional fanbase.

The PAC12 literally tried to add non-AAU members Oklahoma state, Texas tech and Oklahoma just over a decade ago. Your memory is not very good.

Those were the PAC's safety schools if uofutah passed on the invitation.
