Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!
For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.
Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

That's a hell of a lot of fees to pay for probably not a lot of future revenue.Originally posted by myboynoah View Post"I think it was King Benjamin who said 'you sorry ass shitbags who have no skills that the market values also have an obligation to have the attitude that if one day you do in fact win the PowerBall Lottery that you will then impart of your substance to those without.'"

Yeah, makes me wonder about the timing. Maybe if they delay for a couple of years they can avoid some of those fees.Originally posted by Pelado View Post

Sure, but if they delay beyond next season, then the waiver for the Pac-12 only having 2 teams ends and all the NCAA credits earned by [checks notes] mostly non-OSU/WSU teams will revert back to the teams that earned those credits.Originally posted by myboynoah View Post

I see. Didn't OSU/WSU get some windfall for being left behind? I guess they figure best to spend the money now to save a league for them.Originally posted by Pelado View Post

https://sports.yahoo.com/sources-pac...zYRoy7jTBPtdAgThe expansion is not inexpensive. Each Mountain West school is contractually bound to a $17 million exit fee, and the Pac-12 is on the hook for an additional $10-12 million penalty fee for every school they acquire as part of a scheduling agreement the conference struck with the Mountain West.
After months of examining future options, league officials determined to reimagine the conference with an expansion approach. In negotiations with potential new members, Pac-12 officials and third parties have presented a plan that features a new media rights agreement worth more than the MWC’s current or future television package, as well as the sponsorship potential of the Pac-12 brand.
I wonder how much more their media rights agreement will really be worth, and whether it justifies the expense.
When they agreed to the scheduling deal with the MW including penalties for poaching, it seemed that they were destined to do a reverse merger so that the PAC would survive with all its NCAA tournament (and other) assets and all the MW teams would join the party."I think it was King Benjamin who said 'you sorry ass shitbags who have no skills that the market values also have an obligation to have the attitude that if one day you do in fact win the PowerBall Lottery that you will then impart of your substance to those without.'"

And they still need another two schools to come on board - which likely means more cash out the door. I wonder how much of the exit fees are going to be funded by OSU/WSU from their Pac-12 coffers?
This could also cause problems with the new CFP model. There are only 5 conference champs that get an automatic bid to the playoffs. After the Power 4 conferences, there is one spot available for the G6 conferences (rather than the G5)."I think it was King Benjamin who said 'you sorry ass shitbags who have no skills that the market values also have an obligation to have the attitude that if one day you do in fact win the PowerBall Lottery that you will then impart of your substance to those without.'"

They need two more schools to get to 8. But they really only have access to MWC schools and I guess the western most AAC schools. Not a lot of great adds avaliable. I bet they swing for the fence to get Stanford and Cal back but they won't. New Mexico? UNLV? UTSA?

This will be interesting to see how much the payout will be per school. It's gotta be better than what they are getting now in the MWC, but how much better?Originally posted by Pelado View Post

Also, I feel for USU. Hope they get picked up in all of this. SLC is a relatively big market and Utah is an increasingly lucrative recruiting ground.Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!
