Bookstore now selling Coach O t shirts. Probably not very common for an interim coach to have his own t shirt.

It's also probably not very common for an interim coach to be so successful in such a difficult situation, y'know?

Its more of an endictment of Kiffin than an endorsement of O. But that's just my opinion. We all knew SC had plenty of talent.

How much has Coach O's stock gone up since taking over? I imagine USC sees him as a great contingency plan but is looking for a homerun hire. If they go with someone else, I assume other programs would offer him a head coaching job.

              That's definitely the risk

Pat Haden sez: RIP, CEO Mania!

USC athletic director Pat Haden spoke on the weekly USC radio show last night and here were the most interesting remarks he made about the coaching search:“What Ed had done has been absolutely remarkable. He is clearly in our eyesight. We understand. It’s not just the fans. We’re sophisticated enough and know enough about this to understand the attributes that he has and he’s a known quantity.
“But my job is to find the best coach of USC, not just for this year, for five, six or eight games or next year, but hopefully for five, ten or 15 years. So we’re going to go through this process we have and at the end of the day, I think we’ll have a rational decision. And I completely understand that people are going to disagree with the decision I make, no matter who it is, right? So we’re going to get that. I’m fully prepared for that.”

What's the near concensus among SC fans? Is this just a team playing better without Kiffen or do the fans think the success can continue under Orgeron?

That is a very wise approach.

How did these same people hire Lane Kiffin?

I don't think Haden hired Kiffen

Coach O's performance at Ole Miss hangs around his neck like a millstone. Also, SC fans look at what Chow has done at Hawaii.

Some people aren't meant to be head coaches.

                            Hermie is on the bandwagon?

Kiff apparently thinks CEO is putting on a show, not being who he really is.

You gotta do things your way,” Kiffin said. “This is not who Ed is naturally. When you replace someone, it’s natural to do something different. Ed has done the Pete Carroll thing to the fullest.”

Orgeron is definitely putting on a show - SC is once again fun to watch. And since he is winning, I would agree with Kiffin that he has done the Pete Carroll thing to the fullest.
